For further investigation please answer a few questions:

Please confirm that if you are unlocking the Tier I rewards while in battle, the reward overlay will then appear and causes you to desync?

Please confirm what platform(s) did you encounter this issue?
you just need to fight your fights as usual
the animation when you reach the goal takes good few seconds while you can follow thru exploring, causing this.
other ‘rewards unlocked’ messages are usually being skipped by pressing X/forward/click away, this one does not.
