I really do not understand the complaint here. The number 1 guild you are talking about played you last wars when you were ranked 2 and played the rank 3 twice last wars and played the rank 4 once. They beat you head to head and you also lost to number 3 I guess because you dropped a few spots. They get an easy battle this wars and my goodness the World is ending. The best way to get to top spot is beating the top guild head to head, not hoping you do not play them and the devs giving you easy battles while they have hard ones. Every guild gets easy opponents and hard opponents but in the end it all works out. It is hard enough for a top guild to get everyone to participate and to stop hitting the dang gate. Not sure how you expect the top guild to get their opponent to make their players play. Heck I set my keep and went to bed Monday then woke up to it changed back to default lol. We cannot see who did it. We cannot see who is playing. We cannot see score. We cannot see how our DEF is doing. Lots to complain about but lets focus on the top guild getting an easy win just like most every top guild most days.
I did not start this forum topic, my replies have only been my personal concern, not the “end of any world” @rojo , it has to be addressed because it is an issue.
You suggested that somehow trophy count helped the top guild. It did not, if anything it helped you out the last few wars when you were 2. That guild has never been in top 5. In the last like 8 years the number 1 guild has been top 3 in wars and the other 2 guilds that were a little lower due to their trophy count are now in the top 3. This means the top 3 over the last almost a decade are still top 3 so no matter the rules we should both agree that those 3 guilds are just good at wars. Daily play had no impact. I guess right now your opponent is random so the only way I can think of is a bracket system like before. This would not work to your benefit because you would lose more but I digress.
The forever issue here is the new GW format doesn’t mesh well with solely a points scored metric as the “best” pathing is contextual and not always a race to the Palace.
I could see some kind of grid showing with players on one axis and the nodes on the other showing who went where but that would be a nightmare to provide so much data on screen while still making it legible on places like mobile.
I would love to know who is just fighting the Gate (or not fighting at all in some cases). I just don’t think score alone is going to tell the (correct) story.
I think the internal competition factor wasn’t a primary driver in this design and any shoehorning in is going to come with multiple months worth of (valid) forum posts on the side effects.
