[Reported] Can't pause on enemy turn

What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
Expect to still be able to pause during enemy turns, to quit battles if there’s a bug or the game is looping.

How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?
Seems to be since the last update. Saw it being discussed in alliance chat and tested it, to confirm. Not sure exactly when it started.

Steps to make it happen again
Play a battle. Finish your turn. Try to pause.

last night, i set up an ai test using web/no immunities on my team vs lv 2 hind and 3 archdruid blackwood. didnt realize I couldn’t quit out on the AI’s turn.

that took awhile watching a targeting system that didn’t seem super logical.

Yes it’s true, it’s been about 2 weeks since this new bug appeared, I hadn’t reported it as the list is already so long. It’s especially funny when you want to leave a PvP fight with potions, you put the controller down and wait for the AI ​​to finish its 30 turns :grin::grin::grin:

I’m on PS4, and the same thing seems to be applying to me. The “Options” button works perfectly fine for me in every other context, inside Gems of War and outside of it alike, but it won’t pull up the information screen and the option to retreat during combat regardless of whose turn it is.

I’d like to be able to retreat from a hopeless PvP match, especially one in which the AI is playing with itself and I’m helpless to watch it casting the Prismatic Orb over and over again instead of whatever spell would mercifully end the fight.

Or like tomorrow, when I’d want to retreat from an Explore-1 battle at the conclusion of a Gnome-a-Palooza rather than fight my way through the rest of that cycle.

Sometimes if I lose internet connection and get it back, it won’t let me pause or open the battle/chat menu (allowing turning on/off autoplay) or chat itself. Generally, though, I can do everything correctly until the AI starts taking it’s turn and then I can’t pause at all.

Using NS. The “+” button does not work in combat,Unable to summon Settings. This bug was discovered in TV mode.

Just had this happen to me recently. I was getting skull bombed (and getting pissed off to the point of almost throwing my controller out the window, JK) and spell-bombed by looping goblin enemies, and I couldn’t use the retreat option. Really maddening. I knew I would lose and was ok taking the loss but I DON’T appreciate watching my team get decimated by an enemy team and being forced to watch the enemies looping their spells (by four-gem matches, and being goblins), getting extra turns all the time, and waiting until my whole team is dead. Unacceptable. I’d rather just quit with the tail between my legs, and then pick up the pieces and move on to another battle.

Just to add something I just realised. Basically, the only way out of a looping battle like that is to quit the game and restart. Probably better than sitting watching a screen for minutes, but it’s up to you.
They still need to fix this, though.

Any updates on this? This has been driving me nuts for what feels like over three weeks now. I don’t know about others, but this is probably one of the most annoying bugs I’ve experienced in my many years of playing this game.

Yeah, still can’t pause during the enemy turn on Xbox. Figured this was intentional and was part of the last update to prevent players from retreating out of a losing battle during the AIs turn in PvP.

It’s annoying to say the least to know you are going to lose, but can’t just forfeit or back during the AI turn as the enemy team just keeps looping with no end in sight.

Some of us still can’t pause and retreat during our own turns, let alone during the AI’s move.

I’ve gotten very close to throwing my controller and my console through a window (or through the television) a couple of times when I’ve watched the AI loop itself endlessly with PvP potion battles and/or fights with Goblins and/or casting the Radiant Jewel endlessly – because something else in the code seems to make that last a very high priority instead of casting the spell that would (mercifully) finish the fight.

FIX THIS. This should be a very high priority above and beyond all the petty little stuff that we’d like but doesn’t have as large an impact on gameplay.

Jeto, is the repair planned for 8.8? because it’s still broken

I am not too sure, as we have been having a bit of a rough QA time this update. I’ll see if I can find out.

When I saw thisn I first wondered if this bug was a real one or if it was meant to be like this …

It could seem fair to devs that if you want to retreat you have to wait for your turn. It’s like this in every turn based RPG so why not here after all ?

But I do agree it’s annoying as hell
