What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened: Brok doesnt make bomb gems
How often does this happen? When did it begin happening? Everytime. My guild has told me.once your magic makes it blow up the whole board, he stops creating bombs.
Steps to make it happen again Cast Bork when he destroys 64+ gems.
They don’t get created first and then blown up, stepping through the video frame by frame only shows the existing bombs exploding. I could imagine that the spots on the board where the gems get destroyed are somehow marked as dirty and thus not legit for things like gem creation until the spell fully resolves. Are there any other troops that first destroy, then create gems?
Yeah, same here. I suspect if Bork would destroy 50 gems, the bomb gems could only spawn on the untouched 14 tiles of the board. I don’t have any way to test that though, at least not with Bork.
Neither of these will help because they won’t test at the range where Bork will explode 61-64 gems only. because right now, at anything lower than 61, he adds 3 bombs. There’s 64 gems on the board, so it makes sense, the 3 remaining gems will turn into bombs. At 62, will he make only 2 then? At 63 only 1? And is 64 the point where he doesn’t make any?
Gem creation effect is actually gem conversion in disguise. More specifically, “create X amount of Y gems” = “convert X number of non-Y gems (choosing randomly) into Y gems”,
Since there is no gem left after Bork’s gem destruction, of course no gem is converted to bomb.
Blugh, I am in the process of trying to get word on some sort of solution for this troop, as it’s another timing issue but apparently not one that is easy to fix.. so I am asking about what happens then if it can’t easily be fixed.. cos then it’s not doing the thing the spell says it should.
Likely won’t have an update on this too soon I think, but when I get more info, I’ll post again
If Bork destroyed the 3 bomb gems and worked properly, we would actually get a little bit less mana from casting that spell than we do now. The 3 bomb gems would explode the gems around them (only 50% mana), and we would know longer get the full, 100% benefit of Bork “destroying” gems.
They honestly should just remove the bomb gems from the spell to make it less confusing and more effective.
That seems… wrong. It should explode gems, THEN make the bombs. So, I don’t get how that would effect how much mana we get.
Unless you mean from casting it multiple times?
So, assuming it has 70 magic, casting it SHOULD destroy every gem on the board. Then, it would create 3 bombs, which would fall to the bottom, and the new gems would cascade down on top. Instead, it destroys all the gems, creates no bombs, and the new gems cascade down on nothing.
But I never liked the bombs anyway, so I’m all for removing them from the spell. Or even just making it a bit wordier and having it be “If I destroy less than 25 gems, create 3 bomb gems” or something, so it’s still useful for new players with low magic, maybe.
Bork initially “destroys” gems, giving you the full mana value of (up to) 64 gems on the board. If Bork created 3 bomb gems, and then destroyed (up to) 64 gems, you would only get 50% of the mana value of the gems around the bomb gems. (Not to mention the bomb gems themselves which provide no mana).
I always thought that bomb gems should “explode” after 1 full turn of being on the board. (So, if you created them on your turn, they would explode when you got your turn again, provided the enemy did not destroy or remove them).
I don’t think any of this matters though. They are not going to consider any of this…
Yeah. That, there. That’s not how it works. The spell reads “Destroy [Magic + 1] Gems. Then create 3 Bomb Gems.” It destroys the gems, THEN creates the bombs.
Doing it the other way round would be bad, you’re right. But it doesn’t. That’s why I’m confused you’re bringing it up.
Yeah, having some kind of timer would have made a lot of sense. There’s a bunch of interesting things you could do with it, like having it deal damage when it explodes, boosted by the number of bomb gems, and controlling the timer with spells or whatever. But…
Some people get confused because Bork creates the 3 bomb gems after it destroys gems. But I have gotten instances where I cannot visually see the 3 bomb gems being created after Bork destroys gems. I think this is because I have enough magic for Bork to destroy 64 gems, which is a full board clear, and it creates cascades, 4+ gem matches, and other things that interfere with the bomb gems being created.
Other troops that destroy gems in a similar way, who gain a lot of benefit from high magic all have a unique aspect about them:
•Thrall takes 2 damage and gets an extra turn if there are 13 or more gems.
•Marilith deals 6 true damage to all enemies and gains 6 attack.
•Angry Mob burns a random enemy and either: summons an Angry Mob or deals (magic +1) damage to an enemy.
That is why Bork creates bomb gems. To make it feel “unique.”
