What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
I expected enemy Graveseer to convert all green gems to purple. However, when he cast, he left 3 random green gems unchanged. I have seen similar results with Mercy and First Mate Axelubber, instead of converting all gems of a colour, they left 3 alone.
How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?
It seems to happen every time an enemy troop casts a spell that converts all gems of a colour to another. I first noticed it yesterday, but I suspect it came in with the Astral Spire. It seems to be applying the effect of the capstone in the Bat (purple) constellation. However, I have not yet activated this capstone.
Steps to make it happen again
Challenge a team with an empowered converter like Mercy, Graveseer or the like. Let them cast and see they leave 3 gems unconverted.
I have also seen the boss in Raid lose his Submerge status for no apparent reason intermittently. This could be the effect of the capstone in the Dove (yellow) constellation which has a 20% chance to dispel enemies at the start of turn. This one’s harder to reproduce for obvious reasons.
Maybe all the capstones are active? The purple one’s effect is easiest to observe.
If people are wondering why I’m reporting a seemingly beneficial bug, it’s because if Astral Spire is behaving unpredictably, that’s probably not beneficial in the long run. I don’t know what will happen when the capstone is actually activated and/or levelled up.
No, but I haven’t looked for it. It might be hard to tell, as you wouldn’t know what the enemy hero’s stats should be, unless the stat breakdown shows the Astral Spire effect?
Edit: I just checked a Central Spire battle and the only stat breakdown it showed when examining the hero was some boosts for “Week of Wargare”. It was a Spiritwalker hero. So if the capstone was active its debuffs weren’t listed.
I haven’t seen the Hero one trigger
I haven’t seen the Red one trigger (test 1: 4 Princess Elspeth, test 2: Deep Huntsman/Obsidian Libram/Drake Rider)
I’ve seen the Green one trigger, but it’s overperforming..
Tested Maelstrom Dagonath + Phantom Green Astral Spire and it’s done a 7 cast, an 8 cast, and a 9 cast. (original cast is 12). It shouldn’t be able to do a 7…
I’ve seen the Yellow one trigger, but it’s underperforming
Tested Imperial Jewel + Bloom Manatee x3. Each Manatee has its own chance of losing the submerge when the spire says Dispel All enemies.
I’ve seen the Purple one trigger, but it seems to be the base Level 1 version
Isn’t the highest level -4 with a chance at -5. 7 from 12 would be -5, so it is correct. Just weird that it not only triggers, but triggers at different levels.
EDIT: Just found the original post:
So, unless they changed it, it would be overperforming. But maybe they did change it?
I’ve also seen the “incomplete convert” effect once or twice; it’s rather noticeable when you’re expecting the opponent to convert into a 4-match and it doesn’t happen.
I’ve also seen an occasional “random dispel” of opposition troops and I know I haven’t wandered into that Astral tree just yet. (I mean to do it relatively early, because I use a double-Tesla team to farm Explore-12 and submerge/barrier are obnoxious bugaboos to me.)
Plenty of bugs can not appear in the beta, and then appear on live unfortunately. I can’t speak on the QA process as I am not involved in it but our beta is extremely thorough.
No one reported any of the capstones triggering before they were unlocked, and it would be something they would notice.
Could be related to live events that are only accessible once an update is live, could be related to the server roll back (very likely), there could be other data that was not live during the beta that is live now - I cannot answer it.
I just want it to be clear, that we didn’t experience this in the beta, or it would have been reported and if it wasn’t fixed during the beta it would have been listed as a known issue in the patch notes.
Not encountered it. Why is it not ideal?
Just low % odds of triggering? Cus that might be that all the “ghost” capstone effects are triggering randomly, not at correct odds.
