Reintroducing Top 27 Scores in Guild Wars

Before the Guild Wars revamp, only the top 27 scores of the day were counted toward a guild’s final result. Could this system please be reintroduced again?

Allowing only the top 27 scores to count would help offset situations where a guild is temporarily short on active participants due to travel, real-life commitments, or if someone has recently left the guild. This is especially relevant with summer approaching in many countries, when more players will be away on holiday/vacation.

We’ve experienced several very close matchups in the past few months where the outcome could have been impacted by us not having a full roster available to play.

Since there are currently 27 defense slots, aligning the scoring system to count just the top 27 performances would create a more consistent and balanced structure. I think it would also more accurately reflect a guild’s competitive strength rather than penalizing them for unavoidable absences.

This change would improve fairness across matchups while still rewarding strong overall performance. Thank you for your continued work on improving the game and for taking player feedback into consideration. :glowing_star:

The problem is that it may affect set bonus more than you expected. Assume your opponent has one strong route of defense, so that 3 of your guild mates lose one battle on that route. All 27 other guild members win 5/5. Those 3 will be weakest 3 in score, short of 500 and some points from others. If their results are discounted, however, your guild’s set bonus will drop from 10x1000 to 7x1000. You’d rather discout one from those 3 and 2 from other routes, so that only 1 set bonus is lost.

That’s a good point! And it does get complicated since the scores may no longer fully reflect what was actually earned. Maybe another approach is to address the roster shortage directly by normalizing the raw player scores - so it’s an apples to apples comparison. They can either do it by comparing the same number of player scores or using an average per player.

Math was my weakest subject in school and thank goodness I’m not a dev. My head hurts just thinking about all of this for the past few minutes.
