Question for dragons - If you have a hoard of gold this thread is for you!

Sorry that I didn’t get to saying something sooner - I had other stuff to attend to.
On one hand, I am mildly surprised that some activity is happening and it hasn’t gone into complete ignore mode immediately; on the other hand, it’s probably not that surprising as this “feedback collection” thread is pretty pointless, so it costs nothing to start one. Can anybody point to the last time feedback, gathered in this mode, actually achieved anything? It will be gathered and then probably filed under F for forget or under D for don’t care, doesn’t matter. But, since ranting costs me nothing either and our manager insists…

  1. Why do you hoard your Gold?

Because gold hoards naturally all by itself.
Granted, I’m helping some bit at the moment. I simply wanted to see whether I would get any warning when approaching the limit; although, given recent backpedaling, I can’t help feeling that it’s all in vain as fixing the underlying issue and giving players a notice must’ve always been just a pipedream talk that was never meant to be taken seriously or ever worked upon. You seemingly have decided that such common sense feature as players not being thrown out of game is not welcome here and will use any lame excuse to justify not giving a flying squirrel’s body part about it. Thanks.

  1. Are your Kingdoms and Faction Hoards as high as you can get them without being blocked by non-gold related factors? Or are they still able to be levelled and you haven’t done it?

2A) In the grand scheme of things, kingdom upgrading costs basically nothing as far as gold is concerned. Anybody playing the game at any meaningful level can easily see that. So, what is the point of this questions?
And, yes, all my kingdoms are as far as they can get and you know perfectly well that deed books are the only thing determining the upgrades.
2B) Surely, I might increase faction hoards a bit

but why, pray tell me, would I ever want to do that? First of all, it simply does not interest me; secondly, I would get flagged by your marvelous banbot for cheating anyway if I did that, so it’s a no-win situation for me.

  1. Is there a reason you don’t spend your Gold on Legendary Tasks for your Guild? If so, why?

I will, eventually; as a matter of fact, greatest deal of that will go towards tasks for lower guilds in our family not my main home, as I believe those players will benefit way more and it’s always good to have a helping hand for novices.
But, as far as legendary tasks go in general, somebody already said it somewhere in previous posts: legendary tasks are there so one might as well put some gold into them but there is no particular excitement or whatever. Legendary tasks simply are.

Just for curiosity, we can have a look at some tasks rewards my guild got yesterday (@Stratelier)…judge for yourself how grand they are.

4 event keys 1 gem key 4 glory keys
1 arcane 8 gem keys 100 glory
legendary 1 gem key 1 event key
4 event keys 1 gem key 4 glory keys
4 event keys 4 glory keys 100 glory
5 runics 8 gem keys 4 glory keys
1 event jey 1 gem key 50 glory keys
5 runics 6 arcanes 1 gem key
1 event jey 8 gem keys 4 glory keys
5 runics 6 arcanes 1 gem key
legendary 1 gem key 4 glory keys
6 arcanes 1 gem key 4 glory keys
1 gem key 4 glory keys 750 glory
1 arcane 50 glory keys 100 glory
1 event jey 8 gem keys 4 glory keys
1 event jey 8 gem keys 4 glory keys
1 gem key 50 glory keys 100 glory
6 arcanes 1 event key 1 gem key
5 runics 8 gem keys 4 glory keys

(We did sixty-ish more, but they were in those pool-mails, so I’m not featuring them here but it’s more of the same…with one tiny small extreme occurrence - we did get one mythic troop drop, so probably no more of that this year.)

Avoided leveling past hoard 100 on purpose, for the challenge at PF500 (and because it doesn’t earn any more Renown). And I don’t do events with extra potions for gems either.

I’ve finished 22 factions this way, and I won’t start raising any hoards until I get to the last several “impossible” ones.

as others have said, raising hoards on ones I’ve completed seems pointless (again, no more renown). Maybe I’ll eventually raise ONE if I care to have a farming delve

If raising hoard levels to infinity continued to earn Renown, which could continue to earn marginal extra stat points beyond the current max, I’m sure some would invest in that

The point is to look like they are engaging with the player base

Just a question for members who replied “I don’t donate to LT’s because I don’t need them.” What about your fellow guild members? Surely you have members who are still looking for additional keys, Glory and the occasional mythic troop.

I, too, have little if any need for LT rewards these days but we have several members who do still highly value them. I feel good about donating to my guild to help them further their progress.

There are also the skill point increases which come from completing the basic and epic tasks. I’m sure we all still receive value from those.

I don’t hoard gold (@ ~25m currently, I just don’t have time to grind above that) but if I may voice my own opinion:

  • I did increase my Faction hoard levels to where I needed them to beat PF500. All of those are done, so I don’t have a reason to touch that section of the game. I don’t even do Tuesday events anymore because I have limited time and there’s no benefit.

  • Additionally, as Dust_Angel pointed out, we are seeing people get banned for what we suspect is having Faction hoards @ max, so why would we play witih fire?

  • Kingdoms are hard locked by Books of Deeds. I once again appeal to the devs to update Treasure Hunt rewards to include writs (you can swap out glory or souls, or have them only in vaults). If you also want to charge some amount of gold along with treasure maps for the better rewards, I bet you will see some players jump on that.

When I started playing this game nearly eight years ago there was a post asking “When will Treasure Hunt be updated?” We shouldn’t hold our breaths.

I am wondering if anyone buys gold from the Shrines.

I think the devs/cx should fix the plethora of other more pressing issues raised in other threads rather than continuing to ignore them and diverting energies to redesigning uses for gold.

If you need a temporary fix for the 2.1bn gold, then limit gold on an account to 2bn and just cease adding to it.

I generally have about 40m gold or so.

LT’s and Guild Tasks in general need updating on their rewards.

This is an “iceberg” topic … in several ways, it is easier to design a new currency than it is to improve a pre-existing one, especially if they want its intended usage to be equally (…more or less) available to everyone at the same time. For example, if Dragonite wasn’t strictly time-limited to one Boss Dungeon per day (upon introduction), players with a hoard of sufficient Gems (>10k) would have been acquiring Diamantina literally on day one.

There’s even a design term for constantly adding new things: “accretion”. Think of it like the Pokedex problem in Pokemon – and at least that developer invests time to review/update movesets per creature type that reappears in a sequel.

That’s a good question to ask – the cumulative value of a Guild Task is, after all, multiplied across every member in that Guild.
