Right now I’m only VIP 1, is there a way other than strong defenders to get alot of gold faster? I pretty much want to make as much gold as I can in a short amount of time.
As much gold as you can in a short amount of time = play as many pvp battles as you can. Make a quick team and choose easier fights. There are people who believe that a weak defense gets you there faster than a strong one.

Dragon Armor ASAP. Best thing in the game. Gems from Guild Tasks or any you’ve bought, use them on that straight away. Otherwise just do plenty of PVP as mentioned.
