PvP Diamond League - Is there any advantage?

I have stayed in the Diamond league since PvP was refreshed and always make sure to stay each week. This week however, and it is only Thursday, the top 8 are already on 100,000+ (#1 on 223,000).
I am at 17th place on 36,000. I can’t remember ever seeing a board like this.

So, considering the mountain to climb just to stay in Diamond, is there in fact any advantage in staying here or should I allow to drop down for an easier life ?
I probably won’t need to play so much pvp when I’m not trying to maintain the status quo !

The only real benefit in reaching Diamond is to get the Seasonal challenge for the Immortal Souls or to get a top 3 spot for the week for Gold Marks.

The only benefit in staying in Diamond and not placing in the top 3 and not relegating is “maybe next week will be easier to get top 3 in Diamond” or “I don’t want to deal with PvP and I’ll stay in Diamond to be ready for the next season.”

Usually, Ruby League is semi-easy to place top 3 to get Gold Marks, but its also a lower amount of Gold Marks than Diamond League.

The biggest loss of relegating to Ruby League is not doing enough PvP to get the weekly PvP rewards. If you ever get a weird week where you can get relegated to Ruby and complete all PvP rewards, it might be worth it.

As the above poster said, only benefit of being in diamond is the seasonal goal (once off) and if you play enough to be top 3.

Literally since the first season I’ve bounced one week Diamond one week Ruby.

I’ve also never not once been able to finish all my weekly goals (ie 6500vp) in Diamond League while being relegated.

You can “easily” win Ruby League usually with about 25k vp. Sometimes less Sometimes more(usually first 2 weeks of a season people try hard)

This means I’m almost guaranteed gold marks every other week vs Diamond League which is almost always 100k vp+ just to place.

And I don’t care for grinding so hard.

Every 2nd week is chill

I try to get down to Ruby every other week. My Diamond ladder always sucks (100k+). I never get the ladder that my guildmates get where 25k gets 3rd place. This ladder system for rewards is one of the least thought-out, most unfair that these bozos have come up with.

Many thanks for your answers. I always do my 6500 points (weekly) on Monday and I am not too stressed about the seasonal immortal souls.

I like the idea of bobbing up and down, as Ruby seems to look quite different, and to quote Supa-N00b " …I don’t care for grinding so hard"

I’ve played every day since 2014 and my heavy grinding days are well behind me  so I am pleased to hear that I don’t need to

Thanks again !

The whole situation with going from Diamond to Ruby, back-and-forth is quite ridiculous TBH. Everyone in the small community that comes to the forums have offered suggestions, and it sounds like an old man shouting at the clouds now.

PvP leagues need to be blown up. Period. It should have nothing to do with the Global leaderboard and should not be reliant on “luck.” Randomly getting people that get a lot of VP or not a lot of VP is just a terrible system that needs to just be completely removed.

I always thought that PvP “leagues” should be acquired once a player earns a certain amount of VP. Rewards from these “leagues” should be gotten automatically in the mail after weekly reset, and once a player has gotten the listed VP below, they would advance to the next league for the following week :

Bronze: 2,500 VP–> 10 gold marks

Emerald: 5,000 VP–> 15 gold marks

Sapphire: 10,000 VP–> 25 gold marks

Amethyst: 20,000 VP–> 40 gold marks

Topaz: 30,000 VP–> 50 gold marks

Ruby: 50,000 VP–> 75 gold marks

Diamond: 75,000 VP–> 100 gold marks

P.S. I forgot to mention that these new PvP leagues would “degrade,” 1 by 1 if players do not earn the required VP to stay in their league, and you would get the gold marks from the previous league automatically after weekly reset

All of our suggestions will be ignored, but that is a much, much better system than the one we currently have. We have had enough of deciding between competing or giving up in PvP leagues.
