Yeah, this happens on Android as well…
If the devs really really wanted to encourage team diversity, they could adjust defense loss points based on a similarity score. The more players within the top 1000 players are using a troop on your defense team, the more PVP points you lose on an unsuccessful defense.
Edit: this doesn’t solve the problem of annoying players into skipping your team. I don’t have a ready idea for that one.
Isn’t the way pvp set-up like passing to players just to fight the third?
I actually managed to get a defense win with the Musketeer team (against a level 100ish player, but still).
So I’m switching it up today:

I also use something like that, with the name of my deck being “Trojan Spider” !
