Remember Tesla? The one card that doesn’t need magic at all but is considered a Mage due to dealing spell-damage, and as it turns out getting nothing else but 6 magic for its elite level.
We wouldn’t but AI generated guff would as you would assume wand and magic go together.
The same can be said for Tesla, but that is a whole other issue I won’t discuss in length…
There are so many cards that would benefit more from being a “defender” rather than a “mage,” but sadly, the list would be too long and there would be no hope of troops getting their troops roles reworked.
I wish they would make more tarot cards like The Empress. More useful spells that buff stats, give positive status effects to your team or inflict negative status effects on the enemy.
Because the “role” assigned to the troop is one of those “under the hood” things that determines how the AI plays the troop, how it’s slotted in Explore teams, et cetera. That it makes zero sense from a “statistical bonus” perspective given how the spell doesn’t scale off of magic, but the variable has to be set that way for all the other reasons the AI depends upon to play a team “properly”.
To us, this is about the stat bonuses and the need to bronze/silver/gold elite a certain number of troops for kingdom power requirements. And it doesn’t make any sense from those perspectives. But – shocker!! – it’s not about us.
Easy fix - separate the “under the hood” part from the “player stats” part. There’s no reason they couldn’t split some classes in half. Like mage can have mage (magic) and mage (not magic), under the hood, and both be played the same by the AI, but the player sees them both listed as “mage” and when they go to elite them the stats they get are different depending on which one they are, so the mage (magic) gets mostly magic and the mage (not magic) gets mainly armour or life.
The point of the complaint isn’t “these troops should be moved to a different role” but “the roles being tied to the stat boosts AND the AI is dumb”. If they just treated them as two separate things, none of this would be an issue. But, if they have to link them, they need a better system to avoid troops getting stats they don’t need.
Question: What do these two have in common?
Answer: They are mostly held together by band-aids.
Fun fact, Tyri has an “under the hood” property that doubles your treasure map cap in battles. They haven’t managed to easy fix that the past 10 years, the easy fix you are proposing is several magnitudes beyond their capabilities.
