But isn’t it supposed to be checked for every 6 battles unless the secret spot at the mountain base is occupied?
Is this only a “just in case we also need to hit a secret battle to trigger the secret battle”?
+++++++++
Whoever of the devs thinks that this sort of mechanics is “fun” needs to stop.
The random scoring was annoying enough.

No … where did you get that impression from?
Original event announcement. 5 battles that can be anything, 6th that could be Inari.
I thought the only thing they clarified on was that the Inari battle could also be anything.
That’s how I understood it to work. The explanation got me so confused.

Yes, the explanation was bad, (for once) even they admitted it.
They just never said Inari would appear after a specific count of battles, which they have done in previous events when that was in fact the case (e.g. Jakal the Guardian’s event).
I didn’t say “appeared” but “checked for”. I meant rolled for as in “there’s a chance”.
There was the misunderstanding I think.
The chance was still only after X battles, just wasn’t guaranteed to be Inari.
I’m sorry, @OminousGMan , but – knowingly or unknowingly – the devs lied to you. And you passed that lie on to the community.
I saw zero (I repeat, ZERO) Inari battles after playing every Sigil from buying Tier III.
This subreddit thread appears to explain what actually happened: https://www.reddit.com/r/GemsofWar/comments/10sini2/detail_on_broken_fox_hunt_world_event/
What is described is clearly a bug, to anyone with an ounce of common sense. Unfortunately, I didn’t read it early enough to find which location housed the Inari battle.
To add insult to injury…
…this weekend, you’re doubling up the Vault Event (which you owe us for cancelling it, earlier) with a Bounty Event. These are the two most time-consuming weekend events that exist (don’t give me that ridiculous excuse about it being a “choice” how much you play), second only to a new Faction.
Please allow me to hand you a hundred thousand stilletos so that Nimhain can personally stab each and every loyal Gems of War player through the heart. Perhaps she might then start to understand just how much she and your company are betraying us all with your nonsensical management of what would otherwise be an amazing game.

I don’t have common sense but this doesn’t look like a bug at all. For those allergic to Reddit:
1.) There is a secret location, called “INARI LOCATION”, it doesn’t always offer a battle. It is currently unknown whether this location can move around, possibly based on the player.
2.) As long as this location doesn’t contain a battle, there’s a 50% chance it receives one after each fight. When it spawns, the chance for each type of battle to show up is the same, including Inari.
3.) If the battle in the Inari location isn’t the Inari battle, the game won’t ever provide an Inari battle until this particular battle has been cleared. This means intentionally going into a low scoring battle, something the event rules don’t even hint at and that players have been taught the past years to avoid.
It’s definitely a bug.
At the very least, it’s atrocious design. (Which is just a different kind of bug.)
I’m not going to argue further, except to point out that it should not be necessary to consult Reddit in order to discover a critical feature of a major game event. This is not an Easter Egg; it’s a bug.

It’s a bug in dev → player communication. Bugs don’t have to be just in the code.
