I am the GM of Sons of Anarchy, the #1 ranked Guild on PC/Mobile. Our current Guild War Rating is an outlier in your matchmaking system and makes matchmaking difficult, where we would likely face whoever is ranked #2 repeatedly. We have accepted that. However, there is currently a space holder guild in your matchmaking system that is ranked #2 that is actually a completely empty guild, LahornCreators.
However, this will be the fifth time in a row (4 times in a row last Guild War) that we have faced this empty guild, so clearly, it is still ranked at #2 for matchmaking purposes.
Could you please either alter the rating of this guild to an appropriate rating of a dead/empty guild or eliminate it completely? I would much rather have us face the other active, top rated Guilds in Guild War.
Specifically for SOA, this is not a “space holder” - this is an AI guild so you have someone to face in your bracket for Guild Wars.
There is no other Guild that you can be matched with, in your ELO bracket, you are above the threshold, or range, from the next actual Guild.
Your Guild would have to drop in rank, to play against a real Guild.
This is also why they aren’t taking up a space on the actual GW leaderboard, where the rewards and bonuses are determined.
All Guild are matched against other Guilds in their ELO bracket, if there aren’t enough real Guilds in your bracket, that is when you would fight against an AI Guild or an actual Guild again..
Maybe not a bug, but it certainly sounds like an unexpected negative consequence of the ELO matchmaking being rigidly bracketed such that SoA are in a bracket by themselves rather than with their 4 closest rivals?
To me this says: (a) SoA are never going to drop in the rankings and face real opponents unless they start deliberately throwing their marches against their AI opponent guild; and (b) no other guild is going to be able to climb high enough in the rankings to face SoA because … they never get opponents high enough to let their ELO rating close the gap into SoA’s bracket?
This seems like a bad outcome for everyone: SoA never get any good matches, and nobody else ever gets a chance to challenge them.
It feels to me that the bracketing at the top end of the range should either be wider, or dynamic, such that all guilds get to fight some real opponents.
(It also strikes me that a quick fix would be, with their permission, to tweak SoA’s rating down to maybe 2999 so that they do get bracketed with Marshal? The initial ratings were based on trophy count, not previous GW performance, so they’re fairly meaningless anyway.)
How can this not be a bug? SOA cannot loose against this empty guild and will always get more elo points than the guilds below them. Loosing deliberately also doesn’t work, the AI never does a battle.
Only way is to opt out of GW for a few runs or have everyone not play at all.
But even if you adjust the elo, at some point there will be a guild on top that will get out of reach of the elo bracket of the guilds below them and face the same issue again. It’s a flaw in the system
