What is that point for?
When asking info in game it says and I quote:
This collectible contributes to your progress in the current Special Weekly Event"
Only “special” event is the holiday event and that has its own “special collectible”.
So what event are those points for?

There actually is in-game info (if you’re into clicking through these tabs). I’m mildly surprised - thought there wouldn’t be anything for normal non-forum-scavenger to see.
The same deal that was with 4 tarot cards to craft what’s-his-name for the tenth anniversary. Go new daily blunder screen and look somewhere in bottom-middle of your screen to collect reward tiers.
If you go to the daily adventure board (renamed to daily plunder), you can see the rewards you can get for defeating blue enemies at the bottom of the screen in the center. The rewards are pretty good, and you get Gingeraxia’s pet for the final reward.
If you want to get the rewards quickly, just go to explore in Merlantis to defeat a lot of blue enemies quickly.
