What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
I fight my second Guild War battle. In Glade. I killed everyone, except this Caprichor. And then Elemental Sentinel casts his spell. There was no such troop even in his team! (It’s Fox Fang, Queen Beetrix, Trixter and Caprichor.)
(I didn’t catch the moment, but you can see the outcome).

How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?

No idea. Fight clan wars maybe?
The Guild Guardian is like a defender of the whole Keep! So their ability will trigger in all battles, in the 15th+ turn, even if you aren’t fighting against a Sentinel.
So if you fight a location with a Sentinel defence team and defeat them, this won’t stop the Keep Guardian ability from triggering.
We do have a lot of plans to update how this is displayed, other things with the Keep Guardian etc, that we couldn’t get into the Guild Wars update, but is coming in a future update.
@Jeto The keep sentinels are apparently or seemingly casting on moves, not turns. We’ve had them cast on opponent’s 2nd turn. I thought this had actually been reported, but providing the data will require recording an entire battle.
I’ll keep an eye out, I have not seen any other reports so far and currently haven’t been able to reproduce this myself, nor Gman when trying to test - also no reports in the 8.8 beta either
Just a reminder, a keep sentinel left my board with no matchable gems and I had to retreat. Would be nice if someone could cast an eye over that in case it’s something simple. I did a bug report at the time but i don’t know how to do screenshots.
