What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
Lately, every time the new “Kingdom of the Week” is changed, the Epic Trials are reset for that Kingdom.
Expectation: If I have the Starry Pet, the # of battles completed to get it to whichever point should be indicated in the “Trials” section of the featured Kingdom.
Actual result: For, at least, the last 3 weeks, I’ve had the Starry Pet for each Kingdom featured during a given week already at Level 10 or Level 20, and yet, the Trials section says I haven’t even done the first Epic Trial Battle level yet!
How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?
Only really noticed it within the past few weeks…dunno if it’s been longer.
Steps to make it happen again

At the start of a new week, click the featured Kingdom (Leonis Empire, this week, it’ll have a blue/white badge on it to mark it, and the “Explore” option will be replaced with the Underspire) on the Game Map. Click on “Trials” (assuming you’ve finished the first 10 that are available any time). Regardless of whether you’ve done 1 or all 5 of the Epic Trial Battles previously, you’ll find that it states that you have not started the Epic Trial Battles yet (despite having the Starry Pet in your inventory)*
