No, no, working “as intended”. Shiny keys and Burning marks were launched stating that if you pulled something already maxed, you would get a small amount of resources back (shiny dust or burning marks), instead of getting something you don’t have. That is how they were designed.
And people called that out immediately. People said that would mean you could open a bunch of chests and get nothing except a smaller amount of chests to open, once you get to a certain point. At least shiny keys give shiny dust which targets something you don’t have, but the return is small. And we know from guardian troops in guild chests that they absolutely could make chests with dupe protection, so that if you already have stuff maxed, you get something different.
But they’d rather screw us over and punish us for opening their chests too much, clearly. Irony is that this will mostly affect the players who pay them the most. Such a weird decision.
The refund is set to give back at a rate of 5 extra souls = 1 refunded Burning Mark. It makes the Epic Burning Chest process horrible for target farming with more featured season Immortals flooding the chest pool.
15 Souls = 3 Burning Marks
30 Souls = 6 Burning Marks
60 Souls = 12 Burning Marks
Haven’t pulled regular chests in a minute but it’s probably looking like
10 Souls = 2 Burning Marks
20 Souls = 4 Burning Marks
50 Souls = 10 Burning Marks
Feels like “we don’t want to give a benefit of a duplicate type protection” so instead we will refund pennies on a dollar. And then tell players it could be worse. We could have given silver marks instead. As if silver marks exist only as a reward to be worse than providing 10 burning marks and being awarded 1.
Just loot box doesn’t feel applicable enough. Let’s make looney loot box a thing. Or burning chests can award an immortal, gold marks…or a literal burn on one’s mental well being.
I assume this thread will be eventually moved to the feature request section so feedback about this depressing mechanic should not be off topic.
This is written in your screenshot, so it is displayed before you spend any Burning Marks
Off the top of my head, I don’t know the calculation for Immortal Souls to Burning Marks - so I will follow that up as I haven’t personally gotten 1 Burning Mark back myself.
I have shared feedback in the past about how much is returned.
But is intended to reward Burning Marks back and unfortunately, no, it is not equal to 1 Burning Chest per max Soul - this is not a bug.
Okay, so it’s for every 5 Immortal Souls over the max, you get 1 Burning Mark. If there is an instance where you got under 5, they are kinda “held” until you reach 5 total excess, and then you get the 1 Burning mark back.
