I haven’t been on forums for a bit, but finally catching up. can say with near certainty it is in fact random, as much as I hate to admit. I got super lucky early on and was perfect that first Wed and Thu going 4 5 6 because I watched tacet get a trap on top. I had a few more so I was 4 out of 8 with across the top once and square pattern once. I was sure I had figured out you could go top or bottom, or if you found the dragon in the second room then go middle top and make a square. Nope, I was just getting super lucky. I was 5 out of 8 or 9, and if had taken my own advice would have been 6 of 10. But since then it has been all over the place and can’t get another perfect. I’m now 5 of 15 and haven’t hit one in a week. I’ve bought Dragonite every day, except that the first Tuesday the update dropped because I wasn’t sure yet, and have two dragons so far, brown and blue, and will have another one Fri or Sat depending on whether I can break my unlucky streak.
TLDR version, I truly believe its random, so don’t stress trying to figure it out. Also buy dragonite every day unless you are still saving for other stuff. Otherwise you’ll never get these dragons.
0/17 now. Opened two bosses on my first two clicks, then trap → boss. This is the second day in a row that the correct doors have been 245.
On the plus side, I just descended to level 9, which seems way above average given the screenshots in this thread.
The best thing about dungeons is that we can feel this frustration every day for the rest of our lives. Or until we decide to quit the game.

I haven’t been keeping track but will say I’m frustrated today as hit traps before fights so all troops silenced and death marked! Lost my first battle due to obvious reasons. Thanks devs!!!
