Needing some guidance

Relatively new to the game, Playing on PC AND Nintendo Switch with VASTLY different experiences. I had a few questions, for those who have time to read this. (Sorry in advance!)

#1. I notice (at least how it looks at the moment) that my troops can reach a maximum level of 20. And ONLY after ascending them to Mythic level. but I’m running into enemy teams (from regions, not other players) where troops are level 30. How am I suppose to deal with teams 10+ levels above me? How high do enemy levels go?

Also, how do you deal with teams where they’re literally immune to everything (fortified/impervious) it’s really not practical to run a team full of just curse ability troops. I know I can use stun to temporarily disable their traits, but if they’re immune to stun as well… it’s looking like curse is the only option. But I want to be able to do more than just be a curse monkey.

I’ve been trying to get around this by using troops with True Damage, but since a lot of troops have 10 levels+ on me, they still have enough HP and crazy enough traits (death mark when doing skull damage, death mark when matching gems, death mark simply by getting a turn and wanting to death mark me…etc) that they can wipe my entire team in 1-2 rounds, or they poison/deal triple dmg vs poisoned targets/poison with skull damage etc. Or my favorites, 25-100% chance to resurrect- summon something horrible when they die that one shots me or devours me and suddenly gets 50 more HP and amor etc… It’s been kinda brutal.

#2. How am I suppose to get enough copies of troops to ascend them to mythic so that I can actually level them to 20+ or actually unlock all their traits to make them a little more durable?
I do my adventure board daily, and try to wrap up a zone each time I log in. But that’s simply not giving me enough resources to get 50+ copies of troops to get them to mythic so I can level them up properly.

#3 Team suggestions:

I’d like to hear some suggestions from you guys with a lot more experience, on what you use troop wise for specialized teams. Ie:

A team to deal with Undead/Demons (since I can almost never death mark them)
A team to deal with Divines (since they have so much healing and cleanse every status effect I put on them)

A team to deal with Beasts/Monsters
And realistically, a way to get around teams with 99.999% immunity to everything in the game,(Mana drain, burn, poison, terror, death mark, silence, stun, devour, old age/taxes) there’s too many immunities on some of these enemy teams. It’s kinda absurd. Any way you would normally get around extreme health/armor levels, they are completely immune to. Or are you really stuck doing nothing but teams full of Curse+ True damage from here till eternity?

~End novel

Thank you for any helpful suggestions you guys have that helps me progress some and be able to enjoy the game/grind a little more

Oops, forgot to ask.

What class would you guys suggest as the easiest to level and clear fights with?
When I play I Switch, I have a TON more classes unlocked than I do on Pc and with switch, I am kinda liking Slayer with full traits (unless running into teams with immunities to everything so bleeds don’t get applied)
Same with Assassin, I like it. But a lot of teams are immune to the poison/execute from the class weapon.

But all around, what do you guys find is the easiest to level up and clear flights with? Without having everything being countered by enemy team traits of course.

I can quickly only answer the class question - Elementalist.

It’s both the best class to have as a player and the most annoying to fight against in pvp.

A short answer to your #1 question - leveling kingdoms will give you extra stats that make your troops stronger.

Don’t have time for more right now but I’m sure you’ll get more help soon. :slightly_smiling_face:

As someone else said the best class is Elementalist. It’s completly broken if you unlock all traits.

For the other things the game is pretty much more about cycles then real tactic. Which is why you see troops like Queen Beetrix alot still as it does damage while also creating gems to get extra turns and in her case even has a chance of just getting an extra turn.

It’s hard to help further as not sure how far you are with kingdoms and such.

Thank you, I don’t do any pvp but I have the elementalist class unlocked. Haven’t touched it yet but will have to go look at it now. Thank you for the reply!

Thank you, that brings me to a question. Is there a way to link to my profile or something so I can show what troops etc I have? On switch, I just started to unlock regions like Sword Coast, Ghulvania and Glacial peaks, I’m lvl 180 ish, But on PC I’ve only put a few levels into each kingdom as I go and just started Khaziel and Pans Veil I’m only lvl 78 or something and dreading attempting the regions I’ve done already on Switch since I don’t have half the troops or resources I ended up with there.

A little-known secret is that if you go to your Collection screen, if you select the “Bonuses” tab without clicking on a specific team slot you will see a shortlist of global stat bonuses that get added to the stats of EVERY team you make:

  • “Kingdom” Bonuses: These are permanent stat bonuses gained from leveling up Kingdoms. They are very slow to grind but with nearly 40 kingdoms total, once they start adding up they are the biggest source of extra stats in the game.
Kingdom bonuses further divide into “Level” and “Power”, which correspond to the same tabs on each Kingdom’s menu (select for more information). Invest Gold to improve the Level, and complete collection objectives to increase Power. (Note that increasing Power also improves the free kingdom income/tribute resources you acquire over time)
  • “Renown” bonuses: These are also permanent bonuses gained from Delving the various Factions that appear on the Underworld map (once you unlock it). These are also slow to grind out individually, but with one Faction per every Kingdom it does add up, though not nearly to the same extent as Kingdom bonuses.
  • “Guild” bonuses: If you are in a Guild, and everybody donates to complete all 12 tiers of a given Guild Task, you will receive a small stat bonus as a reward. However, these reset with every new week.

Note that when you view the “Bonuses” tab for a specific Team slot it will contain much more information (including bonuses based on a shared Mana Color, Troop Type, or Kingdom), but the above three are automatic to all teams you create.

As for what are some good Troops to look for? Here’s a low-hanging fruit option:

  • Join a Guild (any Guild, doesn’t matter) then go to the “Seals” page from the Guild menu. Guild Seals are the currency used to open “Guild Chests” and if you have any “Orbs of Clans” (purple Orbs) this is where you redeem them.
  • Opening Guild Chests will reward you with exclusive Troops from two sets (both associated with the “Guardians” pseudo-kingdom, not to be confused with the “Hall of Guardians” faction):
    – One set (Courage, Honor, Humility, Justice, Loyalty, Sacrifice) is all Elemental typed and their spells allow you to create a mix of Gem types to collect more Mana of a color.
    – The other set (Cunning, Defiance, Ferocity, Finesse, Persistence, Treachery) specialize in taking down enemy Troops of their specific Mana Color (and every Troop has a Mana Color). They all share 50% Skull resistance making them good frontline troops, and a passive third trait that buffs their corresponding Troop Type (which includes your Hero if you can equip a matching Class).

Persistence, for example, is a Wargare which synergizes nicely with all other Wargares including the wolves of Maugrim Woods, the Gnoll tribes of Wild Plains, the foxes of Vulpacea, and scattered outliers like Amira (your Leonis Empire NPC questgiver).

As for how to counter teams with immunity traits? Like how the Sunday Boss Dungeon includes a full “Impervious” team centered around a boss version of Behemoth, and stuff like that? Two answers:

  • “Stun” is the go-to status ailment to temporarily disable a Troop’s passive traits. Of course, there are also passive traits that protect against Stun (Thick Head, Fortitude, Impervious), so…
  • “Curse” is a more powerful ailment that allows status ailments to ignore a target’s normal immunities, even including Impervious. The only protections against Curse are the “Bless” status buff (Curse and Bless cancel each other out) and the super elusive “Invulnerable” trait (found on special troops only).
  • Also of note, “Berserk” is a status buff that allows Skull matches to bypass traits that would reduce/avoid Skull damage, even if you can’t Stun the troop in question. For example, Divinion Fields Legendary troop “Artemia” has a unique 40% chance to dodge Skull damage entirely, Khaziel Mythic troop “Stonehammer” has a whopping 80% (5x) reduction from Skull damage and immunity to Stun, and the special “Tower” enemies that feature in “Tower Invasion” events all share the “Invulnerable” trait – but none of that matters at all if your Troop matching Skulls currently has Berserk.

There are a wide variety of spells that can inflict either Stun and/or Curse (e.g. Amauru), and there are also various traits that can inflict it for free under certain circumstances (Curse Touch, Warpriest’s 3rd trait, etc).

The way to get stronger and handle tougher content is to number one join a good guild. It does not need to be a hard core top tier guild. Just a well populated, active guild with people who help each other. It may take minute to find the right guild. But it’s important.

Thank you for the reply!

I do have Persistence, and I really like him for the Do X bonus damage to enemies using X mana color, and of course devour and hitting 2 targets. But that was part of the problem I was running into, where enemy teams are all immune to devour/execute/lethal damage, so it effectively turned Persistence into just a random troop.

And I was looking at troops with Stun, end even unlocking elementalist on my PC version of the game, but unfortunately I haven’t gotten there yet. And with the status immunities I am running into a lot (don’t know if it’s just really bad RNG) they are immune to all status effects, including stun.

I will check to see what I have with Berserk, Currently I am just having to let Shocktopus carry all my teams, since it’s true damage, hypothetically smacking the entire team (since most undead all use purple, and full undead teams… everyone gets a tentacle to the face) and it gives me mana from the gems it blows up.

Thank you for the reply! I am in a guild called “Dark Order of Wolves” it’s fairly active, so I log in and help out with stuff and get an alright amount of keys etc for unlocking more troops. I recently got Crimson Bat which seems pretty helpful since he’s team wide true damage and he gets a nice chunk of health back. And between him and say… ,my Shocktopus that’s been carrying all my matches so far, it’s helped.

I do have a War Cleric to do a bit of dmg to undead/demons and boost my teams attack, but a lot of the teams have so much armor that the cleric has to chew through that first, and by the time I get to their actual health, they’ve already: poisoned/death marked/eliminated half (or more ) stat points on my team making me basically just tickle them instead of actually hitting them. It’s really looking like I have to get Bane of Mercy to curse the entire team and then I can actually use status effects and try to grind the teams down a little.

Have you unlocked plague lord class already from darkstone? The class weapon essence of evil can be helpful for locking opponents up, it applies all negative status effects at once plus explodes gems for mana

Some questions…

Where are you running into teams you struggle to fight? Guild events? PvP? Kingdom quests? Explore? etc.

Are all of your kingdoms unlocked? Are they all level 10 or above? If not, does your guild require you to donate gold?

Just kingdom quests mainly, I don’t do any pvp but as I go through kingdoms to unlock them there seems to be an absurd amount of enemies to fight that are all undead/demons or like… fae/elementals that seems to have a lot of immunities and also dishing out tons of status effects or things like devour which one shots my troops and buffs their team.

I am still unlocking kingdoms, but no I have only been putting a few levels in each one so far, I read somewhere ppl saying to not level any kingdom all the way unless it boosts your magic? But I’ve not even really seen a kingdom that says it boosts magic (other than Karakoth that gives a whopping 1 point to it)

I do have to deposit some gold to my guild yes, but not a ton thankfully, so I guess my strugg/les are mainly with just kingdom quests and explore and underworld stuff since right now I am still just trying to unlock stuff.

I have not no, Not on PC anyway, I just unlocked it on Switch but haven’t gotten my 250 wins yet to get the weapon, I was thinking of making that my next class, or Elementalist as a lot of people suggested since the fully unlocked traits look quite helpful.

ok then you can pretty much do everything with:

Elementalist class (or Titan, or any class with rock solid)

Golden Cog (change weapon to Shield of Urskaya when you get it.)

Rowanne (obtained from completing Forest of Thorns quests)

Maraji Queen (obtained from Sunken Fleet faction)

Leprechaun

Any Green++ banner

You might have all of those or you might not. Rowanne is currently available for green summoning stones in the soulforge. If you have that unlocked. Anyway, this is pretty much an all around solid team for early game.

Those points add up and they matter. It’s been so long, I can’t remember the system I used to decide what order to level mine to 10. The game was a little different back then anyway, so I’m sure it would not be the best way now. All stats are important to some degree. Generally magic > attack > life > armor for priority.

Ask your guild leader if you can get all your kingdoms to level 10 before donating. When I was new, my GL told me he specifically did not want me donating gold to the guild before I reached that milestone. I run my current guild the same way. However, I don’t automatically know if I have a member that needs this “help.”
