Mana burn upgrade

When I was early game, lower level.
I loved using Queen mab, her spell is so unique.
Now ino there’s hardly any mana burn troops now, and every good troop has the trait to block mana burn.

So how about a new mythic, with True Mana Burn. Just like true damage ignores armor
True mana burn, would ignore the anti mana burn trait

I’d love a new heavyweight mana burn troop.
A long lost awesome spell.

Or a mythic with a trait that mana burns more often. Maybe not on 4+ matches, but at the start of your turns or something would be decent.
I agree mana burn feels weak at higher levels. It scales off magic, so it can be boosted but not easily. It would be nice to see a troop that uses it well.

I think as a spell tho, old mana burn is dead at high levels, as all the good troops have the trait that stops it.

Thats why I think True Mana burn, would be a fun new spell.

As we have true damage, and skull hits that go through armor.

I was very surprised to discover that the Invulnerable trait is not immune to Mana Burn, even though Impervious is. I noticed it when my Immortal Glaycia was killed by Mana Burn.

I haven’t tested it but presumably Indestructible also can be hit by Mana Burn.

Neither trait purports to be immune to Mana Burn, but because they seem to be superior to Impervious, which is, it’s surprising they aren’t.

its one of those things left off so Raid Boss Zuul’Goth wasn’t immune to mana burn and the likes.

Poor old Zuul.
Hardly anyone gets him out of his rocking chair anymore.
Damn egg dragons.

Wow, that is curious indeed. Meanwhile, Invulnerable is immune to Mana Drain but Impervious is not.

I’d like to mention how our Silverglade Godslayer, Lord Ehrondil, inflicts Mana Burn without inflicting Mana Burn. As in, he has a 1:1 spell damage scalar AND a 1:1 boost by the target’s Mana level, where Mana Burn inflicts … a 1:1 boost by the target’s Mana level, and a 1:1 boost by the user’s Magic stat. The only practical difference is his spell has a +4 base damage, the Godslayer multiplier, and is not blocked by Mana Shield/Impervious.

Immunity to Mana Burn would be a bigger thing were Curse effects not so ubiquitous these days. Yes, a lot of troops enjoy that immunity in a basic sense, but it’s easy enough to “turn off” that immunity for the overwhelming majority of them if you wish to do so.

It does mean either using wand.
Or one of the 5 or 6 curse trait troops tho.

I just think, mana burn was awesome as a lower level player.

Now it’s hardly ever used, so a nice reboot would be awesome.

Imagine a new mythic, true mana burn , summon Queen mab, with a chance to curse 50% start of each turn trait.

Sounds fun to me, and usable.

Ps. Most queen’s get a king in GoW, poor Mab is still a maiden, and she’s hitting her 50s :joy:. King Mab needed.

Quick google, cus Queen Mab is based on a real character, and either she’s unmarried and consort to Oberon (his chick on the side), or she’s married to someone called “Gwyn ap Nudd”, the “king of the lower world” (which includes the world of elves and the world of the dead). So, Mab’s husband would be an undead fey, I guess. Seems like a good candidate for cursing and mana burning or True mana burning.
Guess the Queen Mab in Gems is still single and chasing Oberon, until they add her king to the game. :joy: Hopefully she gets her own man soon.

I thought Oberron had a thing with Titania.
Or are they just extremely close siblings :joy:

Plus Oberron is definitely early 30s.
Mabs to old for him .

Mana Burn scales with magic, so that would be like 50 damage to the whole opponent team at the start of every turn. Putting four of those mythics in your team might make turn 0 farming a tiny bit too easy.

I was thinking more like mana burn a random enemy at the beginning of your turn, but yeah, it would make low level farming easy. But then again, troops like ironhawk, takshaka, etc, already make low level farming easy.
Guess maybe have 50% chance to mana burn a random enemy, if you’re worried about having 4 of them. Then it does like 50 damage to 2 enemies each turn. Not bad, but not too much.

Oberon and Titania are married (according to some stories, anyway) and the game seems to go with that. Their relationship is kinda love-hate at times though. Like a lot of fighting, but they do love each other.
