Lorekeeper I: Chapter 10 - Riders on the Storm

BEST CHAPTER EVER!

I love the humor from Penglong and the intensity created from Taloca and the Stormriders.

Frankly: if you donā€™t want to read my responses, just donā€™t. Go enjoy the story.

Iā€™m not breaking any rules, or trolling anyone. I think things can be improved. Maybe theyā€™ll get published one day. Maybe others reading will have hopes to write some day, and learn from my nitpicks. Maybe I just enjoy it. No need to get personal. Plenty of narky stuff gets written here that I just choose not to readā€¦

Personally I think itā€™s extremely rude. But Iā€™ll do as you suggest from now on.

To be fair i donā€™t think Jainus pointed out these mistakes for any of the reasons you think he did. But well, thatā€™s open to interpretation.

Personally, as a non-native english speaker, i donā€™t mind being corrected. I guess i just take it as an opportunity to improve myself, so i donā€™t see it with the same perspective as you.

As @Whiskeyjack said, itā€™s considered very rude to go through an artistā€™s work with a red pen without solicitation. This is especially true in this case since those ā€œcorrectionsā€ could easily be sent privately.

Anyway, on the topic of story, this was my favorite one. I adored every scene with Penglong in it. Also, the dramatic entry of the Stryx was truly well written. I canā€™t wait to read more.

Is there toilet available on Penglong Airline? I mean 3 days on a dragonā€™s back is quite longā€¦

I kept telling Penglong to install a toilet but he wouldnā€™t listen. I might as well have been peeing into the windā€¦

ā€œThe journey continued like that for 3 more days. They would fly while the sun was up, setting down two or three times per day, eventually finding a comfortable spot with water to rest for the night.ā€

I assumed they took enough breaks to attend to nature businessā€¦

Actually, Penglong is conveniently equipped with a small restroom. It is forbidden to tamper with, disable, or destroy the smoke detectors therein, however.

After all this toilet converation i really donā€™t want to question what heā€™s swirling in that orb :joy:

Something people will try to eatā€¦

Now seriously, he is probably a Naruto fan:

Except, he chooses to belittle them to his companions.

Penglong answered. ā€œThe Stryx were once birds. Their minds are small. They are violent, unpredictable creatures, prone to act on a whim, unable to be reasoned with. I give them wide berth.ā€

Birds are actually very intelligent creatures, Penglong should know that. Yet he chooses to attack another race based on some perceived inadequacy in their biology.

Heā€™s a racist.

Hmmmā€¦ i think itā€™s weird to use real world standards for fantasy content that is not focused on any kind of social discussion specially because it regards fictional beingsā€¦ For all we know the Stryxes, and many other races in Krystara, can be really labeled as one thing or another with some few exceptions:

Dwarves are greedy, Gnolls and Tauros need to be reworked, Undeads are essentially evil, Urska are temperamental, Orcs are brutes and so onā€¦

Heckā€¦ For all we know there are very few beings that could be dumber or more reckless than our hero, Visk and Tau are solid contenders, so the standards for intelligence must be pretty low if they are an example of heroics and suchā€¦

Anyway, just donā€™t overthink things like this, itā€™ll only spoil your enjoyment.

Hmmmā€¦ Not sure I agree with just saying itā€™s Fantasy therefore ok. That is how attitudes are developed in the first place.

Maybe, I enjoy imagining Penglong as a pompous stuck up racist.

Well, weā€™ll agree to disagree then, because this statement is too similar and simplistic as ā€œVideogames makes people violent.ā€

But well, no need to further discuss this as itā€™s also sort of useless to defend a fictional character.

But you are not wrong in thinking about how dragons and other ā€œhigher existencesā€ tend to disregard the ā€œminor racesā€ in fantastic genres. As a thought exercise thatā€™s sort of interesting psycologic aspect of being able to live for far too long than those ā€œminor racesā€.

We humans also have some of this, generally speaking, we donā€™t feel sad by the fact that animals have a shorter life compared to us, unless they are a pet which we cared for, we accept this aspect of nature. So a Giant, Dragon or Vampire, just to name a few creatures who would live longer, would also regard Humans, Stryxes, Orcs, and others by the same standards, as lesser beings unless they would invest a portion of their time to know some particular and interesting individuals.

You could consider how interesting this gameā€™s genre is developed in a sense that most races have some exceptional/different individuals that donā€™t fall to their racial standards, notoriously some of the Epics who join our hero. :slightly_smiling_face:
