It might be a little early to make that kind of a declaration, given that Microsoft competed well enough with the PS2 to launch the Xbox 360, which won that last generation by far over the PS3 in almost every sense, from units sold to developer friendliness and beyond.
But it is true, Microsoft has a lot of work to do. And in terms of this discussion, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll ever see true cross-platform play because the best way Microsoft can compete is to hunker down and make things more Windows-centric, not less.
Personally I dont think it makes much of a difference what console you have this generation as there are so few exclusives anymore. And with each of them planning mid generation editions they both seem lost.
Im pretty sure the cross platform play was first mentioned by Sony and when Microsoft said they would do it too then Sony halted. Rocket League have it coded to allow cross platform play once they get the nod
I hope your not one of those 1.3TF X1 is vastly underperforms the 1.8TF PS4. We are playing Gems after all… What happens next year when its 6TF Scorpio Xbox and a 4.1TF PS Neo? (PS: PCs will always be more powerful)
Microsoft made a major disaster at launch, Mandatory kinect included, etc. Hence the head of Xbox was fired.
As for “niche” features they are going after that with VR. Every developer has said that you need a absolute bare minimum of 6TF to be able to run VR successfully. (No headaches, etc) so that’s why they settled on 6 and not 8 or more, plus cost. (VR could be another intella room or Kinect but no one will know for a few years)
Nope, iOS (and occasionally Steam). While the AI is taking its turn, you can click settings, but the retreat button is gone. Maybe @Mr.Strange snuck it in as a nice enhancement for the consoles?
