You shouldn’t donate any gold. Any gold that you make should go towards your kingdoms.

Maybe I was just in a crappy guild but it was required for the tasks. I thought they all required it.

A lot of them do. But you don’t want those guilds yet. At the very least you want ones that Require gold after you’ve completed all your Kingdoms.
