[known issue] Can't get in after the 9.4 update

When was the last time you had to go through those steps?
It only went out about 3-4 hours ago

Just now. If I force close the game, it gets into the bad state. If I leave the game for too long, it also gets into the bad state. The only time it seems to be okay is if I come back to the game relatively soon between sessions (20 minutes?). Then the game doesn’t start up from scratch, it just seems to unpause from a sleep state.

Just jumping in here as I’ve had to reinstall the game everyday this week (I need to reinstall it right now as I type this)…iOS 27.0.1(updated yesterday afternoon), iPhone 17 Pro Max, worked this morning after a reinstall last night (couldn’t tell you what version as I can’t access the game) but I would assume it’s 9.4.1

can we start Kalshi betting on root cause and ETA for repair?

iOS 26.6.2, 4th gen iPad Pro.
This is a problem in the network stack. When I get locked out force quitting does not work. Rebooting does not work.

BUT, if I reboot, and start Gems before the iPad connects to a network my game will load. There will be a 10-20 second completely black screen, and then it loads.

To reiterate; rebooting and letting the iPad connect to a network results in the locked load screen. I have tested this on 3 different networks with the same result.

Can someone test putting your device into airplane mode and disconnecting wifi/mobile data when you get stuck in the launcher and let me know if you get the unable to connect to server message?

Then turn of airplane mode, and reconnect to wifi/mobile data and let me know if the game then starts to actually load?

No. This does not work on iphone.

If i disconnect from wifi and put on aeroplane mode, i just get the network error (0101-0001 ?) when the ‘Logging In’ screen is ~ 15% of the way.

If I then turn aeroplane mode off and click the retry button it completes the logging in page, but then I get the usual continuous spinning page prior to the Loading Assets screen.

I will reinstall and try your second suggested adjustment to graphics.

No this did not work for my M3 iPad Air on iPadOS 26.6.2

Interestingly I am not having problems loading the game on my iPhone 16 Pro Max on iOS 26.6.1

What is working (for now) on my iPad is force quitting the game immediately after playing. If I leave the game to time out after returning to the Home Screen, then it won’t load again. The only confirmed solution then is to delete, reinstall the game and download all assets.

Regarding your question about cloud save, there isn’t really a way to clear the game data without reinstalling it.

Is that airplane mode and disconnecting wifi once it has locked/stuck in the infinite void?

Not before you launch, or prior to getting stuck.

No, wifi was already disconnected before I tried to open the app.

Next time it locks up, can you only then go into airplane mode and disconnect wifi.

Tangential: given that a significant percentage of our guildies have gone idle since this issue started (and surely we’re not an isolated case), maybe a review of the guild targets (guild event rewards, uncapping weekly 2k seals per player to reach 40k for guild chests, etc) might be envisioned while this gets sorted out?
:crossed_fingers: :vulcan_salute:

I actually have had zero game booting issues since Tuesday. Very happy

…its bad and causing freezing issue but worse during palooza…had to restart game 5 times in two hour period…hardly seems worth playing anymore…player retention an issue with all the bugs now…easy fix get rid of animation…better than losing players imo

I’m hesitant to post because it feels like I’m asking an opponent to blow up a board of cursed gems in my face …

I upgraded my iPhone14 to iOS 27.0.1 Monday evening and have had no issues since with failure to start the game. That’s with dozens of full starts between then and now.

[next stalled spinning wheel in … 3, … 2, …]

Ehhh, not sure that is universally “important.” I finally had the issue happen on my iPad pro. Unlike my older iPad, no amount of restarting would work so I reinstalled the game. It’s been working fine for days now and I never did any forced restart on my device. One thing I DID do was decline the initial bulk data download when I reinstalled.

I think they mean restart of the app, not just opening it from idle state.

Ok.

So I hit the spinning wheel again. For background, the GoW app was open but in the background. I went to go back into the app and it rebooted itself (this often happens over the years, but not sure what causes it).

Got to spinning wheel.
Changed to aeroplane mode.
Turned off wifi.
No connection error message. Wheel keeps spinning.

Also tried the above with mobile data off, then wifi off. Also wifi off first, then aeroplane, also wifi off then Mobile data off. Never did I get the connection error message (that you get if both wifi off and mobile data off before you launch the app).

Irrespective of whether I turned wifi back on, or mobile data back on, or aeroplane mode off, in any order or singularly or all together, the game did not load.

Only way to proceed is to uninstall the app, and then reinstall and login as returning player and enter details etc.

Hmmm

I took that to mean restarting your device, since reinstalling involves removing the app. And removing the app means it wouldn’t be running.
