Those 2 are absolutely horrible “features” of explore.
One of two things is happening here:
The design team truly doesn’t know it’s popping up every single time we go through a series of 6 battles in Explore on E12. Or 5 battles if we only qualify for mini-bosses.
The design team is maliciously leaving it in the game to slow players down. Can’t possibly allow too many resources!
Side effects:
There is major immersion breaking each time these pop up. Some of the most fun players can have is when we can play uninterrupted and just “enjoy” gameplay. Play time metrics etc.
So, IF the intention is to slow players down from obtaining too many resources, THEN implement other slow downs without ruining the immersion. These Mini-boss and boss pop-ups hurt the experience without adding anything.
In that case, Genies and Daemon also cause immersion breaks without enough benefits to warrant their existence. Merchants and Angels also cause immersion breaks, but at least the carrot exists to want them. But that’s besides the point.
And while I want Explore to be changed to remove those stupid pop-ups, that’s not the point I’m trying to make.
The point is…
I don’t need an Explore 4.0 with a new Petting Zoo feature for pets to hunt for brand new active materials on a timer that can be paid with Gems to be sped up to upgrade troops and improve the art on troops toenails just so I can remove Mini-Boss and Boss pop-ups to enjoy the experience more.
I just want a fix that removes these pop-ups from the current experience and if the intent is to slow players down, then do it in a way that isn’t useless to everyone involved and leaves the rest of Explore as it is currently.
I’d love to know about the retention data. Like seriously how do you know WHY lookieloo players leave? Maybe they leave because they can’t draw a mythic. Maybe they leave because there is way too much to do and virtually no documentation. Maybe they leave because they see too many paywalls. Maybe they leave because that’s what people do with ftp games, install, derp a couple of days, forget about it. I’m curious as to how we zeroed in on journey troops being GoW Achilles heel. I’m not going to say it’s BS. But I am kinda thinking it, and really want to be shown the error of my ways.
Gobtruffle is my most hated troop on the game. The last troop I would pick of all of them. I’ve lost more battles against the goblin team than every other team that could possibly be made. Including book teams on GWs. I’ve only lost very few agains pathfinder teams though. Especially Todd and Egris (I think that’s the name) are in my top 10, together with Huntmaster Arborius.
Technically the Godslayer/Siegebreaker traits are 3rd trait too … for Skull damage only, while their spells deal bonus damage by default if it hits the target Troop Type (and, friendly reminder that Godslayers can be useful in Boss Dungeon too).
fr, shiny keys are NOT proper compensation for this issue, since the reason shiny keys were any good at all WERE the troops that got nerfed. There just is no fair compensation to be given for this issue, and this is yet another slap in the face. On an additional note, how many headstarts did you buy / how many keys did you receive? (to anyone who gets this mail)
I bought most of them, and yes I regret spending money on them now. But most of the time it was for events I didn’t like, and it was a headstart and it helped the guild out.
i know i bought the 4 for the pathfinders, so im just curious if it was 5 for each headstart offer bought or a flat 20 to anyway who bought any pathfinder headstart.
Also, when are they going to add a shiny troop thats WORTH spending these keys on now? By the time one arrives i will have stockpiled enough from all the events for these 20 to mean nothing anyways.
I’m not sure how they could make folks feel whole on this one - people are so all over the map on the issue. But I am pretty sure no one is going to be too excited about shiny keys. I feel like shiny keys are unfortunately a big swing and a miss by the Devs. They have made a lot of changes that are fun and interesting but shiny keys? Hard pass.
agreed. Though i know nothing will most likely come from it, i’ll probably be contacting microsoft/my credit card to see if i can claw any of these 4 purchases back, because this is about as clear as you can get to bait and switch with digital items, sadly. There is just no in-game compensation that fulfills the purpose for which these packs were bought.
Consider putting it into a separate thread, please! This absolutely awesome analysis will drown in a ton of other responses and it doesn’t deserve that.
I admire you for taking the time to writing this out. You put into words the things I subconsciously knew/suspected but didn’t know how to put into words, and then added extra depth. Thank you.
