Journey even stinkier than usual

There are only 10 troops for the Journey event this week. And several troops out of the measly 10 do nothing at all. Is this for real or a glitch?

I think Mongo has become self aware and taken over the system :joy:

Is it the Gems database that’s called mongo? I’m actually enjoying his randomness while the battles are still easy but yeah, terrible restriction :sob:

It was very predictable that we were going to encounter a real stinker of a Journey event at some point. This just happens to be that point.

Looking ahead, if I trust the spoilers? The next Journey event after this one is ā€œpurple Dragonsā€. And if you want to contrast? This week’s event has 10 eligible troops, TOTAL. That next one has 32 separate Mythic-base rarity troops that are eligible, plus close to 10 separate Legendary-base rarity troops on top of that. (Although it’s probably safe to predict that everybody who has the specific troops in question will use Chrysantherax or Stellarix.)

I use this for journey: King mongo WoS ultra rare troop from Shop and the journey troop for miles, class elements. Banner brown blue. This makes it more bearable!!!

Why does Journey still have color restrictions? The gimmick cannot be worth the ā€œickā€ reflex of seeing the troop options this week.

Remove the Color🌈 restriction for journey and just make the journey event for a specific troop type. There is too much imbalance, and we are going to run into these situations. Our hero is trying to carry the whole team, along with Ketras and Hornbreaker.

When my Ruby Macaque couldn’t defeat enemies in 2 casts, and when Ketras couldn’t clean up after 2 casts, I hit a wall, and there’s not much we can do about it. There isn’t enough ā€œRed Bullā€ to save those bulls this week.

There’s already a ā€œtroop type restrictionā€ only event: it’s called Invasion. There’s already a ā€œcolor restrictionā€ only event: it’s called Tower of Doom.

And why shouldn’t Journey have the more onerous requirements, even if the developers picked a pairing that’s pretty lousy this time? The rewards for a guild that completes most/all of the prize gates are WAY better than they are for those other events. Seems to me that it’s only fair to ask for more effort (or difficulty) in return for better rewards.

Congratulations, you just won Gems of War.

Because it’s a game. Games are supposed to be fun. And this game is hemorrhaging players. Not all because of Journey. But Journey does not help. Those are events didn’t have numerous requirements because at the time the game was being made for fun. Not money.
Class Trials had numerous requirements. So if you like that sort of thing. It’s there. In an individual event. Not a guild event.

All the rewards in the world do not mean anything when only 5% of guilds are completing every stage.

Update: it turns out to not be as bad as it seemed to be up front, as long as my lower level players have an orb of ascension to spare so that they can have more than one hornbreaker. obsidian Libram or Mountain Crusher weapon with 2 hornbreakers, and Chief Stronghorn does an okay looping job. Tedious but doable, like every other lovely Journey event after all. (Yes, that’s sarcasm. Journey and Doom are my 2 least fav events for sure. Boring!)

I played this one a lot, and it is so-so at high levels. I came across a loller team that included a troop called Xuanwu which took me 4 goes to beat as it capped level every cast. Needed curse and an elementalist hero last who survived Takshaka and others.

I think the thing that frustrates is that we are 10 years into the game and the troop pool for events is like playing in 2015/2016, whereas the chest pools are ever increased in size with every troop added. Now it seems it’s overly restricted in some game modes, reducing some of the fun. Maybe it would be better with 2 colour restrictions for Journey if it’s 10 troops to pick from.
