It was 4 weeks since that rare was created. Is it in chests tonight? I spent 1,000 gold keys without one. I wanted to see if anyone had gotten any.

You sort of just proved the stats are right. The drop rate for this particular troop is so low that 1,000 keys is only about an 80% chance. If you think that sounds like a safe bet I invite you to try a Pokemon playthrough with all 85% accuracy moves. 1 in 5 chance of failure hits more common than you’d think.
Bumping it up to 2,000 keys gives you 97% probability, which is where I start to believe in “safe bets”.
