Unfortunately, this happens so quickly I could not capture a screenshot
What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened: During explore (level 12 in Divinion Fields), I have noticed that during the start of the battle I got a message “Waning portal activated”, however, there was nothing, which should have triggered it. I am playing this during gnome weekend, so the only explanation I have is that there should have been a gnome battlecrasher, which was prevented by the Waning portal.
EDIT: this does not happen during gnome-a-palooza, only regular explore battles
How often does this happen? When did it begin happening? I have noticed it only since yesterday (1.8.) when I started playing explore during gnome weekend.
Steps to make it happen again Both battlecrasher and Waning portal triggering is random, so this cannot be easily/reliably replicated. But when playing explore during gnome weekend, you will notice the Waning portal activation message from time to time in the beginning of the game.
Battlecrashers aren’t summoned, so I doubt that is the explanation. Did any enemy troops die? A lot of Divinion Fields troops can summon on death. Seems unlikely at Explore 12 though.
I’ve not seen this happen after 2 busy days farming gnomes, so I think there has to be another explanation. Maybe capture it if it happens again and post it here?
I have seen it happen at the start of a battle, but I didn’t assume it was a gnome. Gnomes are not battlecrashers, they replace the other troop instead. You can tell the difference because gnomes are in the slot at the start of the battle, whereas battlecrashers have an animation of them killing the troop in a slot and replacing them, giving you all the benefits you would get from actually killing that troop (such as a soul, but also triggering any traits that happen when you kill an enemy such as rising death - it’s possible for a battlecrasher to kill a troop and rising death to kill 2 others for free).
Waning Portal might affect battlecrashers, but I wouldn’t expect it to affect the gnomes.
Not sure what it’s triggering on, when it appears at the start of battles, though.
I just played a GAP, got the message “multiple capstones activated”, and NO gnome appeared. I had a normal battle, with Chrystanex, weapon, and some other troops on the enemy’s side, zero gnomes. I first thought that the timer just ran out, but the next battle had gnomes. And three battles later - the same thing happened. I don’t record my games, so I don’t have video to prove. When that happened, I still had like… 8 and then 6 minutes left on the counter. (ETAL And now AGAIN, with about 30 seconds left on the counter).
I played that GAP in PvP, in Southwild, if that helps any; with victory talisman and double XP bonus.
The account that happened on: BABYALPACA_T9ZA, between 7.10 and 7.20 a.m. CEST.
Also, the GAP timer is doing weird things, too. Maybe that’s actually related too… Yesterday I was playing GAPs in Explore and it kept switching between 6 minutes left and 2 minutes left. Then 5 minutes left and 1 minute left. Then 4 minutes, and then it counted down to the end without switching. Although then I got gnomes in all battles, so at least there was that. If I remember correctly, I played that GAP with double XP and the PvP 60 minute GOLD bonus active.
The explore thing happened on: DWUEMKA_L78X
Not sure if these two issues are related to the portal thing or to the GAP counter thingy, but maybe it will help pinpoint the issue.
Watching the video, the battle where you got no-gnomes took about twice as long, so not only did you lose the rewards for fighting the gnomes in that battle, but it cost you enough time to fight a second set of gnomes. The bug cost you 8 gnomes, possibly the same every time it happens.
I didn’t do many GAPs, but I didn’t see this behaviour on any of mine.
The fact it states multiple capstones instead of which capstones, is frustrating because we can’t be sure exactly what happened and which one or combo of them caused the issue (this was already fed back to the dev team, apparently). But waning portal seems most likely. Which is weird, because yeah, that should not affect gnomes. Hopefully it shouldn’t affect any battlecrasher, and they get it fixed. Because battlecrashers give key rewards.
Imagine if this triggers in an event and blocks a valraven or whatever, meaning we get less sigils. People will be furious, especially if they paid towards the event with offers.
This is actually an interesting point, because I did a few gaps in PvP on Saturday, and I didn’t notice this behaviour. It was only when I played on Monday morning (a few hours before the weekly reset) that I saw it. At first I thought my eyes are deceiving me, but, then it started repeating every… ah, roughly every 5-6th battle.
And definitely, the no-gnomes battles took longer. Wasting time out of the 15 mminutes of the GAP…
Actually, yes. Bountiful Gems from the brown board. But IF Waning Portal is at play, it would be very weird, because the portal has a flat % chance, so it doesn’t depend on any gem generation…
