[Investigating] GAP Gnomes in PvP

Creating one space for this, cos I am trying to get information for the team.

What level are the gnomes you are fighting in PvP while a GAP is active?

And can anyone share some screenshots of the bonuses being displayed when you view the enemy troop?

Before using up another GAP to gather the info you’re requesting
.I’ve been looking more closely at the normal bonuses
.and don’t really understand the “Warrior of <>”.

In some battles at the same location, the opponent has vastly different values of this bonus:

Perhaps it was in patch notes somewhere
but do you have handy the logic of these regional bonuses?

If that’s not related to the GAP Gnome situation, can it please be posted in it’s own thread.

It may be related. If I understood it, then I may be able to rule it in or out of the issue being seen in GAPs.

Edit: Just found and read patch notes 7.3 about the introduction of pvp regions and couldn’t see any explanation of this bonus in those notes.

The team have an idea of what a cause is, I am waiting for more information on that from them and then what the plan is going forward :sparkles:

Here is a snapshot from GAP in Blood Frenzy region of Southwild.

Super high stats, even though they’re supposedly Level 1.

Whether on purpose or not. Doing this before a vault weekend couldn’t occur at a worse time. Making the game less fun is an interesting business strategy when overall player base has to be at an all time low. Those in charge have to see that.

Totally not cool. I did one hour palooza with the gold bonus in pvp. Last vault event was usual. Now they have almost double the life. I have a feeling this was done intentionally but not mentioned.

Changing the font was one this but this is just brutal. I guess back to explore for me or just play borderlands 4 some more.

I am playing Silksong to get my mind off the ruined vault event as well. Team Cherry (who also have their studio in Melbourne) actually care about their player base. Their games have always been held to a high standard, and you can see the fine attention to detail, fine polish, and testing that was done to make their latest game a masterpiece.

This game is designed to waste your time and resources. Always has been. Always will. Even Hades 2 is coming soon to Switch, and I can actually enjoy playing games again for once.

this was a dumb unnecessary change. i’m really getting tired of this game

Making dumb unnecessary changes must be the company motto

Mentioned elsewhere and thought it was clear in this thread, it is not an intentional change and is being investigated.

OK
so why is it taking so long to fix??? Again, if this was in the players’ favor, it would already be fixed. It’s not like it’s vault weekend or anything.

This thread was created Friday, our studio isn’t open on the weekend, and it’s now Monday morning.

When I get information, I’ll share it.

Let’s not play games. You were notified before the creation of this thread.

Well, we need to understand how it was intended. Maybe at the beginning everything didn’t work as it should, but we were already happy, got used to it and used it. In expedition gnomes ± with the same stats. Like, deep down in your soul, you understand that GaP in PvP was a little unbalanced? Maybe we should admit it honestly?

The update I do have..

A bug was fixed in the last update, which was opponents in PvP were not having bonuses (like Blood Frenzy) being applied to them.

When this was fixed, it was also applied to the GAP gnomes, as it applied to all troops on the opponent teams. Which is why GAP Gnomes in PvP became much more difficult than they were before.

Because before, opponents weren’t having these bonuses applied.

Also, there is a bug where the Gnomes are appearing at a very low level (level one) with some stats being at a much higher level than they should have, with the boosted bonuses. Which is why they are appearing extra difficult, as opposed to just a normal level of difficulty for when opponents are in encountered in those scenarios where they are boosted (Blood Frenzy).

So, we are investigating that bug and then also discussing if these boosts should also apply to GAP Gnomes in PvP, like all other battle crashers do, or if they will be excluded.

Thanks for the update Jeto.

Many people were using this strategy (GAP in PvP) in order to reach the very high / ridiculous (pick your superlative) amount of VPs required each PvP season or to amass resources (gems, gold, keys etc).

Making a ninja change like this has reduced the VP and other resources gained under this strategy by ~30%, which is significant.

As others have said, if a mistake were made which benefited the players by 30%, it would be ‘fixed’ in 24hrs. The fact that such ‘an accident’ can occur and impact players so negatively without a quick fix, is pretty unfair.

I would request that it is ‘quick fix’ converted back to how it was, and then the devs can continue to ponder what change should be made for 8.9, 8.10 etc.
