I should be playing Space Marine 2 but I'm here instead

I discovered this game yesterday and am genuinely surprised I haven’t heard about it in the last ten years. I was a big Puzzle Quest fan so it seems like this should have crossed my screen at some point.

Anyways, I’m excited to get into Gems of War and I was wondering if any of you would be willing to give me a little intro to the game and community! Tops tips for the game itself? Any interesting info on the history of GOW? What’s the community like? How often is it updated? Things like.

Mostly I’m just stoked to discover a game that seems to tick a lot of boxes for me and would love more reasons to stay hyped.

My advice is to find yourself a good guild as soon as you’re eligible (I think it’s level 20?). There are a lot of resource benefits and most guilds (that I know of) won’t ask you to contribute any gold until your kingdoms are open and leveled up to level 10. Because once you do that, the gold starts to flow nicely from collecting tributes.

We have a fair number of guides (for new and veteran players) available on our guild family Discord. Regardless of whether you join one of our guilds, you’re welcome to access the guides. Just let us know you’re here to hang out as a guest and we’ll assign you the guest role. It’ll give you access to a community to chat with/ask questions of, as well as our guides.

There’s one guide in particular that’s geared toward players in the first 48 hours that you may be interested in. Discord link here:

Game gets weekly new troops which is nice. Recently also more updates are done to uplift certain parts of the game.
Most things that help you are already said by others. One of the thing i would like to add though is that it’s not needed to do everything that the game offers. You will miss out on some things, that can be earned a bit harder later on, but otherwise you will need to dedicate alot of time to the game everyday.
So play at your own pace, do the things that you enjoy the most and welcome to GoW ^^

Welcome!

So not spend any blue (ascension) orbs before you have crafted Zuul Goth and Ctharrasque. Zuul is more important.

If you go for crafting dragon eggs at some point, the final cosmic one is the best. Those will probably come later but can’t know early enough about it.

Leave before the game sinks it’s hooks into you and you spend more and more money

Stay away from this mobile game.

Just focus on Space Marines, Necromunda, Space Hulk. Or Elden Ring, or any other game but not this one!

Bugs bugs bugs everywhere, crashes, glitches, flaws flaws flaws. The only thing which works 100% flawless is a money transfer from your account to theirs.

Ignore the negative stuff (for now). This game, like all games, has areas that need improvement. But over all, it’s still a very solid mobile game. This is especially true in the early game.

My number one game advice is to join a guild asap. Almost ANY guild will be a boost over going it alone. However, if your first guild pick is not active, get out and find another. It might take a few tries to find one that feels right. But the important thing is that guilds are not just social in this game, there are tangible, in game benefits. Every day you are not in a guild is a day you are missing out on those.

Once you are in a guild that works for you, my next advice is to check out some of the GoW YT videos. It’s not necessary, you can figure out the game without it, but there is a lot of good content there to help you get the hang of things. The game is not that complex, there are just a LOT of different things to do.

welcome to the game, have fun!

That’s fine. I just hope Gork (or possibly Mork) is proud.
