So, was there a change in the scoring in the game? I know the first post was edited to change max to min, was this done in the game as well?

I had a average of 1,500 today , nothing exciting.
How is bracket 1 on pc doing for the top?

I’m going to test a different play style to the exploders I used last two days.

It’s based around looping and I’ll also see how much the colour bonus means, by only using two purple troops.

Werewolf
Giant Spider
Forest Guardian
Pharos

It is pretty quick if the board is nice, as any of the top two getting charged first turn and it’s on.

I’ll see how it scores! If terribly, maybe I’ll only use it for the first match :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Edit: I wonder how traits like Forest Guardian score? Will it already be counting as mana collected?

Ok thanks, I agree on that then.

Had a shocker last night. Lost first 2 fights against scrub teams and won last 3. Not my week this week. :persevere::upside_down_face:

Oh well, that’s the beauty of gw as there will always be next week. :sunglasses:

That is a shocker… You won 3? That many? Pics or it didn’t happen…

Have to agree that turns is a better metric than actions. Enemy turns are a risk good players avoid and counting actions penalizes “good” play like removing 4 matches that are useless to you but good for them. Counting actions also penalizes good plays like transforms which are part of troop balance.

I’m no longer able to get observed numbers to match expected numbers, achieved top scores seem to be much lower. Has anybody still been able to get even close to 2000 points from a single match?

It feels unlikely that such a huge scoring change would be done during the week, that would put any guild saving battles for later at quite a disadvantage. I guess I might have to admit defeat on this one, it’s far more resonable that my guesstimate was incorrect.

I agree with this 100%. Counting actions seems like it is only going to result in a high score in the event of a mismatch. That tends to favor long-term, high level players in good guilds over “good players”.

For example, the only way I can win in one action is if I use an empowered troop to team wipe my opponent. I think the only way that could happen is if I use Dust Devil to team wipe a level 1 player with 4 level 1 troops. There are all kinds of ways that a “good player” could win on the first turn with the right troops and board.

If they do switch to turns over actions, then I think some kind of diminishing returns calculation would be better than something strictly linear, but I wouldn’t want the calculation to favor first-turn loopers too much, for the sake of variety.

I think if there were actual errors in the formulas, they would go ahead and fix them in the first day or two. When it comes down to tweaking formulas that work as intended for balance purposes, they’ll stick to the plan of only making changes between weeks.

I think it is an issue with opting for the simple move counter instead of the more complex code it would take to differentiate between taking 4+ matches off the board and 4+matches made by gem spawns or converts. The latter should count as a move, the former shouldn’t.

I like simple things too when they work, but as is it isn’t working the way they want it to.

@Shiratori
Are you still here?? :stuck_out_tongue:
Don’t worry I’m very disappointed that my perfect record of 0-5 has now been broken. :disappointed_relieved::blush:
