Guild Wars Going Forward

Back during the time of its first introduction, it was a good gamemode. With around 1000 troops less to choose from. Nowadays and since years I chose a guild that is regularly NOT competing in this useless gamemode with completely crappy rewards. Not even remotely worth your time and nerves. Especially not “fun”.

None. Just don’t waste your time with a new guild wars and finally start to fix other broken stuff in the game. There’s several lists in the forum with “problems”, “bugs” and improvement ideas for the game that get completely ignored. Is the intention behind all the rework plans that guild wars will generate you money in the future?

I can live with once a year. To ignore a event completely this would then be “a nice week off”. Please combine it with a weekend event of arena, so we truly have “a nice week off”.

The last place guild you are talking about was never last. They just had not done battles yet

I don’t ask much, cancel Guild War, easy as that.

What did you love about Guild Wars?

  • Nothing, but I have a competitive personality, so I played it just to help my guild. Granted, with that said, I wanted to perform well. I did my best to win whenever I could, because hate it or not, I play to win. Competition isn’t fun if you aren’t doing your best. Unfortunately, I missed out on the tips and tricks for actually being competitive in Guild Wars or what used to be Guild Wars. Those days seem to have passed now.

  • With all guild events, I prioritize helping my guild over enjoyment of the mode. See Journey for an example. Guild Wars was at least better than Journey.

What new features would you like to see?

  • Better rewards. Guilds in lower brackets should be rewarded for participating as well. In terms of rewards, I’d like to see deeds, books, dragonite, etc. Since I fully expect the new Guild Wars to have a shop for some reason, perhaps these rewards are already being considered.

How often would you like Guild Wars to run?

  • I’m not the biggest fan of the mode. I believe once a month is reasonable though and there are players that play Gems of War for this mode specifically. Seeing your favorite mode once a month is fair, but I have no idea if players will love what Guild Wars is turning into. We still have no idea what’s planned and recent changes have been justifiably criticized.
  • Please be careful with how you change this mode. Even with my feelings about Guild Wars taken into consideration, I’m worried it’ll be worse when it returns and that’s not something anyone wants to see when they’re waiting for it to come back.

Guys, the questions are not for those who don’t (want to) play GWs.

I don’t like hot/spicy food but don’t run around saying it should be eliminated from existence. I just don’t eat it.

Actually the people that dont want it back should have a voice too. Sorry.

Should all modes that some people don’t like be eliminated? You know that we wouldn’t have a game then, right?

Actually, asking for something you can just opt to not play to be eliminated for everyone else is extremely selfish. Sorry.

And imagine how tedious it is for the people to sort through all the comments of “I don’t like it, I want it gone for everyone. Harumph!” to find actual constructive posts.

Make as many threads about how you don’t want to play GWs as you like and I promise I’m absolutely fine with it. This thread isn’t supposed to be for that.

Sure

Here’s my list of events I don’t want…

Arena
Raid
Invasion
Journey
Tower of Doom
Dungeon
Underspire
World Event
Class Events
Factions (only new kingdom)
Vault
Legends Reborn
Campaign

Not necessarily events;

Trophies
Gold
Souls

Vault Keys
Any other collectible resource

What I need

Nothing unless it helps in guild wars.

People who dont like guild wars are going to post on the official guild wars thread thats gotten attention and theres nothing you can do about it.

Sorry. If kafka asks us to stop fine, but i really don’t care if the “no more guild wars” crowd upsets you

As some have stated above, this is a thread about suggestions for the new GW not for your haters to say please remove it. Ofc you can voice your opinions but please don’t use this thread so that good feedback won’t get buried in useless comments.

I would like the old format back with the same 24 unique defense troops for bonus points and the color restrictions. Some people complain that the defense should also be restricted by the same colors but I think it would be really unfair. We all know we don’t have a real PvP and AI controls the moves. So attacking teams already have a huge advantage. Besides that the attacker team also makes the first move that’s also a huge advantage. To make it more balanced, we shouldn’t restrict defense teams more than the 24 unique troops.
Once a month is perfect. No more no less than that.
I don’t mind if someone can only play on the weekend. Maybe that’s the only time they can concentrate because winning GW is sometimes nerve wrecking. I usually finish each day’s battles on that day because even thinking about running 30 GW battles in one sitting is scary.
To be honest, just bring back the old format and we will be happy.

People who dislike it arent spamming it. But no they should not be discounted.

My CC is this:

If it comes back defenses should be color limited as well. That would break a lot of the teams i hated facing. I.E. remove a lot of the power from tome teams

And of course up the rewards because guild wars as it is was worthless

That would only work if the defense teams were set to be a different colour than the attack colour. Otherwise this changes nothing, dooomed tomes are reliant on attack team being its own colour.

If any lesson should be learned from the current PvP mess and taken over to create a better GW - is that the stricter/narrower the restriction, the fewer teams are actually viable and are effectively in use. So instead of fighting 3-4 nearly identical teams + 1-2 different ones a day, we would fight 5 nearly identical teams every single day. And that people naturally gravitate towards the strongest and most reliable combination possible, given the rules they are given. So adding more restrictions will make the situation worse, not better.

What makes tomes so ridiculous are the empowered generators. Limiting colors would break those no?

But yeah opposite colors for defense would break tomes entirely. Im ok with that. Tomes were my biggest complaint aside from the lack of rewards

It’s yet another Catch-22.

So if you limit the colors (while theoretically retaining the 1x only troop usage for bonus points), you’re going to have win rates into the stratosphere and bracket positions (again assuming the bracket model remains) is going to come down to RNG of starting boards for the quickest wins as there’s going to be a TON of 30/0 weeks. Complaints ensue that we’re not as in control of the final scores and the cream isn’t necessarily rising to the top. Better to be lucky than good.

If you leave in the option of off-color defenses (a la the GW of old), you’re back to the lack of diversity in defense builds. The meta updates itself to reflect new troops like Takshaka/Stellarix et al and you see those pop up in the “easier” GW days on defense. Complaints ensue that the meta is stale and if you don’t have (insert troop here), it becomes impossible, boring, repetitive, etc etc.

The combination of not ever being able to satisfy everyone with the added (additional) focus on increasing monetization leaves things between a rock and a hard place. Personally, I think the “best” GW option hasn’t been envisioned yet and I have no idea what it would look like.

Now add in the time it takes to make a new engaging mode and the traditional GW base sees more and more attrition. It’s its own catch-22 within a catch-22. Essentially, it’s just a matter of wait and see for some. Or don’t wait and migrate to another game for others.

Great cancel it and enjoy FarmVille. This entire thread is absurd. This is a tool for the devs to keep conversation going on a decision that’s been made months ago. It’s not coming back so factor in top 5 brackets and how many people leave oh but let’s keep doing this nonsense so people have hope.

1st day in 5 years I had zero interest in even opening the app. Game is dead.

I think it’s fine to join the feedback discussion with “I hated it and here’s why…” or something similar, because that’s useful feedback that the devs can use. Saying “I hated it and don’t want it back” is a lot less useful, because all it says it that that person won’t like the mode no matter how they change it, more or less.
The devs need two sets of feedback really, what was liked by those who loved the mode and kept them playing it, and what was hated by those who disliked the mode and stopped them from wanting to play it. From that, they can decide what was well liked and needs to be kept and what was well disliked and needs to change, and that’s great. Unless those two things happen to be the same, which means they need to keep them the same so they please those who already liked the mode, IMO.
Of course, the other feedback is good too, and helps to improve the mode, but those two things are crucial if they want to keep the players already engaged and bring in those who weren’t, with whatever changes they make.

Love: One thing that I haven’t seen yet: Having different defense troops give additional points made it so that you weren’t seeing the EXACT same defense over and over. If anything, please increase this bonus. It’s easy free points to not cheese defense.

New features:
Considering the current meta build has multi-colored troops, you can basically use the same team every day, taking the fun out of it. It was better when you had to construct a different team each day. I don’t know if there’s an easy way to build in a feature to restrict this.

How often: Monthly was good. Enough time for Paragon to brag for a month, and then for other rabble to plot to take them down.

The problem was you still had a way to get tomes in every team. Simple fix there is find a way to disallow their favorite mana generators.

Did you read a single work of the OP?

There really wouldn’t be many people at all. Really how many people would be grinding a game they don’t enjoy every day just so that once a month they will have 6 days that they can do 5 PvP battles?

The game isn’t dead and even if GW was removed it still wouldn’t even be close to dead. More people would have quit playing after the recent PvP changes than will leave if GW is removed.

Nothing.

Removal of empowered converters. GW is mostly just luck when you are fighting empowered converters, when the enemy has aligment in 5 different places for their empowered converter and there is nothing you can do to stop it then there is no skill involved.

Once a month at the very most. Inbetween campaigns would be perfect. Every 6 months as a special event would also be good.
