Alright so. Im just trying to understand what the "Maester of [Element] " bonuses are, or do? What exactly do they add to your abilities? Added damage?

‘masteries’ increase the % chance that you will get a ‘mana surge’ upon matching gems of that colour in battle, which will give you a bit more mana of that colour to fill your spells than the number of gems you’ve actually matched
Adding to the above. Without a surge you will get 3 mana points with a surge you get double that.
