I didn’t believe this until someone sent me the unvarnished proof.
Want to know where this stacks up against some of the other unlock requirements:
Guilds unlock at Hero Level 15
PvP at Hero Level 18
Hero Classes at Hero Level 20
Underspire at Hero Level 24 (same as Explore, for some reason)
Treasure Hunt not until Hero Level 28
Arena not until Hero Level 30
I know I hit quadruple figures in Hero Level years ago, but…what?
Since we are classifying this as a “Feature Request/Game Feedback” (of which I do not disagree), let me summarize my feedback more concisely.
I am concerned that the current unlock order for early‑game modes in 9.2 creates a frustrating and inconsistent experience for new players. Explore, Treasure Hunt, and Arena currently all unlock after Guilds and PvP and only Explore is unlocked at the same time as the Underspire. This forces beginners into harder content before they have access to the tools needed to succeed. Soulforge unlocking at HL 38 further delays meaningful progression by preventing players from crafting troops and weapons. I don’t have a concrete opinion on how the new Prestige Levels affect the early game. That is something we are still looking into. The reason this concerns me is that new players are likely to give up rather than sticking with Gems of War if there is no way to meaningfully improve.
It was moved into a feedback thread as it’s not a bug.
As Explore does unlock at level 24, as per it’s programming, this is not a bug - so doesn’t go into a bug thread.
Feedback around why it shouldn’t be unlocked at level 24, and made available earlier for new players is feedback, as you mention, and was thus moved into a feedback thread.
If it wasn’t unlocking at level 24 or something was going wrong with it unlocking.. then it would be a bug thread.
I don’t think I had implied that it was a bug as per my clarification.
I had originally left that as an observation below a thread that was originally discussing the Explore mode and concurred with the decision to move it.
I moved it out of a bug thread (or a discussion related to a bug), as while it is related as they are both about Explore - that thread is specific to a bug that is happening and your comment is not related to that bug
My point is that we both agree that what I documented should be right where it is under Feature Requests and Game Feedback. As we agree, I fail to understand why we are arguing it.
I did my due diligence to report my feedback. It’s completely up to the developers whether or not to act on it.
