I have been getting this error message for like +10 hours now 
I cannot get past the loading screen…

Our servers currently experiencing difficulties.Please wait a few minutes and restart the game.

I’ve had this happen in the past on Xbox One, and if I recall correctly, a clearing of the console’s cache and a disconnecting/reconnecting of the modem/router remedied things.
Otherwise, you may have to uninstall Gems of War, then reinstall it.
My less than tech-savvy suggestions for you. Hope you can get back at it soon.
