When you see the team that is over 9000. Also from what i have noticed a mastery increases your team score by 3 but i am not certain if is supposed to go up like that.

I agree with @captain_video’s theory. I’ve been solidly using a single attack team and it has been varying in team score from around 7800 to 8300 over the last 24-48 hours.
I specifically noticed that my team score dropped immediately after I server-crashed out of an otherwise certain victory against Jainus (on reloading and re-entering battle choice screen).
My defend team only relies on match-4 and 5s. IMO it doesn’t get much simpler.
This makes me renew my call for separate ranks and rewards for attack and defense teams.
