Getting 1 less trophy on x2 or x3 trophies

What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened? I played a match that displayed I would receive x3 trophies and won. End of match says I won 3 trophies. Trophy count for my guild contribution of trophies increased by 1 less trophy than was earned. So x2 yielded 1 trophy, x3 yielded x2 trophies. What are the steps to make it happen again?
