I do understand why , because everyone is only looking at one mode. PvP.
But I’m gonna say a massive thankyou to whoever’s idea this gem was.
In the last 2 weeks, I’ve done pure faction 500 in.

Samies!! I’ve been plowing through all my PF 500 runs at a way cheaper cost because of the daemonic portal gems (in order of the hardest to the easiest). Now I only have 10 left to go and I’ve been mostly able to them with a hoard of 105.

Problem is a glitch in PvP with summoning troops. Giving them higher stats them they should have. Also other special gems can help them activate easier in PvP which adds to frustration.
Pretty much alot of problems in GoW are caused by things being unbalanced in PvP and the devs not wanting to split the things or just outright remove PvP from the game and make it it’s own thing seperate from the actual game.

Hehe… Hoard 105 was a necessity - ran out of shards. Hey, but thank you. I’ll use it as a feature bragging rights now. 
ps. Smart to leave CoT for last. It’s the best one to farm.

Yea I saw a picture or a youtuber about 2 years ago. Hed got his hoard on city to about 500 I think.
Just so he could do thieves every day, really easy on pure faction, for the extra rewards.
I thought that was a good idea, so il plow gold into thieves, until another faction comes out.
Ps. Defo a bragging right, I had to get hoard 223 for labyrinth

Totally agree that they’re super helpful on pure faction runs, as long as you get lucky with them. Played a pure faction run on the labyrinth and had a dry spell of around 10 minutes with no summoning gems appearing (got unlucky and down to one troop on either side just buffing and shielding ourselves, urgh), then managed to grab one and push through the battle.
If we could choose whether or not to have the campaign season’s hero gems in battles, nobody would complain. You’d just turn them off to do PvP or whatever and put them on for pure faction runs and stuff. But having these gems forced on us makes some players really resent them, even if they’re helpful sometimes.

Yea labyrinth, for a week I went the lower route, couldn’t get past the 2nd fight.
Today I thought ok, il go top route, it’s the long way , 5 fights to boss, but it worked.
And yep, the gems are very sporadic, 1 battle you’ll get 3, then the next 3 fights, sometimes not even 1.
I think they made them a lot rather tho, lower rng in purpose, because there definitely the most powerful of the gems, full explode plus a random possible mythic Daemon.
I like them personally, I mean a choice between these and sparkinators bomb gems.
What would you choose

Kind of funny how when there was the issue with people having too much gold one of the questions was why don’t you spend it on hoards.

Factions are easier than ever have been. I completed all mine before potions and special gems.

Well I should specify, weekend events had potions, but the regular daily factions did not.
