Delves: Strategies, tactics and tips

Didn’t look… 30 minutes at very least, I think

Forgot to post it here, but I managed to get through Fang Moor last week with Hoard 243, Kingdom 12. That was the last one I needed for no-potion complete in all delves.

Woah … really? I am now at 236 + 50% hoard and I cant get even trough III room  . Compared to this **** the Dark Pits is piece of cake (not done yet  but once, I already started to attack last troop in boss room).

Successful run was after dozens and dozens of failed ones. And came on a run I nearly abandoned, since I was down to two troops for the final fight. No reason it should have worked, but mana kept falling and exploding rows kept failing to line up the usual skull buffet for the opponent.

Was able to complete werewoods pure faction today with a 280 hoard going into final battle with 4 torbern. All I have left now is frostfire and Lyrasza. Which one should I go for next?

Lyrasza’s Lair, I’d say, simply because I haven’t done Frostfire Keep potionless.
I did it hoard 200 + 50% with 3x Dementicore/Lyrasza with losing first Dementicore in, I think, room 2.
You will grumble and say nasty thing to the game (no mouse/controller/phone throwing, hopefully) until gods of random grace you finally, though, and any room with stealthy or immune to silence/mana drain or heavily purple/blue powered enemies will be a bane to avoid at almost any cost.

Also, @xolid99, would surely have something to say on the matter. He’s done both potionless - Lyrasza’s Lair with Chaos Hound roulette no less!

My Lyrasza is still at 2400 renown because even with potions it was too frustrating. I can’t imagine how it would be without the benefit of all those additional stat points and protections.

Hehe.

I personally feel that Frostfire Keep is about the hardest along with Fang Moor without potions.

Fang Moor although horrid, if you get some real luck with Dargon and keeping turns with skulls, you can luck through. Usually luck is against you with skull drops, not least because AI Dargon can get high attack very quickly and decimate, plus the accompanying troops are good at scoring own goals with skulls or red gems…

Frostfire Keep, Frostfire King is the king of all faction 500 baddies. He does from memory 135 splash damage to 2, and half that to 2, sometimes the same target. He’s probably worse than AI Deep King at 500, as he also can freeze. You in Sea of Sorrow have better options for targetting. In FF you have one targettable damage troop, Frostfire Witch, which is a poor troop vs such a high foe, and the only way that does credible damage is to raise hoard to daft levels. You think that 2 FF Kings would work, but they do random damage, so you can miss the AI FF King entirely, so you need the Witch to at least hit it.

The way to beat it is all in on the Wraith, every cast on it, as as soon as it steals a couple of times, it gets out of reach. Then hope you can work on FF King before he obliterates your entire team.

As for Lair, if I had much hair, it would be gone! It’s designed to stress you. Throwing hoard at it is relatively counter productive, you need a series of attack gains from Dementicore and no missed casts.

@Dust_Angel got it very nicely. I ended up winning with Chaos Hounds, summoning them and going through them like butter, but in the end prevailed.

All info in the thread, I tend to write a yarn when winning (sometimes when losing!)

Good luck !

Just beat Lair pure. Hoard 280. Went into final battle with a single chaos hound and kept hitting with skulls and summoning. Frostfire is all I have left! Thanks for the tips!

Congratulations on your incredible luck then!
When I tried using Chaos Hound, it just kept exploding in my face, consequently was retired for good and not touched again. Just goes to show whims of RNG.

Whims of RNG for sure are the determiners of the “hard” factions — just beat Warrens today before the Campaign stats go away (so that makes two for me this week — Sunken Fleet is the other — and I’m happy with that) at Hoard 199, and it only happened because I got the grace of the “easy” rooms prior to the boss (pirates and ship cannons and Lady Ironbeard, oh my!) and a good starting board in the final fight. That let me quickly eliminate their Luna, and the pesky wabbit soon after that. Their Lapina only got to kill her counterpart on my team before she went down, and that was all she wrote :+1:

Any tips for Frostfire? I’m going with wraith, wraith, witch, and king. Hoard is at 265 and stormheim is at level 14. I’m first trying to buff wraith when possible and cast king when available. I usually cast witch to finish off an enemy with low health.

Cry. I hated this one with potions.

Finally beat Amanithrax at pure 500 (no potions, kingdom 14, 2x Kysha 1x Orpheus).

I used Fungomancer x1 and Gobtruffle x3. Fungomancer was decently helpful for transforms but died a few battles in. Avoid enemy skull damage and hope for luck. Gobtruffle loops are your only hope!

I’ve heard this is one of the easiest Factions, but even so it took me a fair amount of tries. As usual, Faction runs have a lot of RNG at play.

More than a dozen tries in and still no luck with 4x Gobby. I am not sure why I am so special if this is the easiest pure faction
I had no trouble with Depths of Sin, Silver Necropolis, Primal Rift, All Seeing Eye and Wild Court all last week (campaign week 10, kingdom 14, hoard 111). But Amanithrax… !@#$#@$

I found it took me more than a few tries as well (unlike others who seemingly waltzed through on their first run or two?) with what looks like 150 True Hoard and 2 Nyshas, but did eventually get there with a good run. I also ended up just using 4x Gobtruffle :man_shrugging:. I think it just takes a slightly lucky/smooth streak, depending on how hard you feel like concentrating on each move.

I think the actual easiest (has been mentioned a bit but was released after) is possibly Deep Hive?

Primal Rift, Depths of Sin, Wild Court, potentially Mirrored Halls, Tinker Town, Emperinazar are all up there in terms of being doable with lower Hoards, iirc.

Amanithrax took me a while, I think its more because you have to clear five rooms than anything else.

Besides the basic such as take all skulls/greens/blues, try to fill at least 2 gobtruffles before casting. Its ok to drop your turn to take green/blue if your move gives the enemy low chance to get a skull.

I just beat pure 500 twice today with 150 hoard 25% bonus without any major issues

I beated Emperinazar today.
Took more luck than yesterday on extra turns and buffing my troops. Also, I had one of each this time in final battle (summoned) and could weaken the enemy emperinazara with Kobold Magi and Kobold until take her down and finish the enemy Magi with my Kobold Knight.
About 1 hour in final battle. Didn’t check the timer.
