Karakoth Class Weapon, can we talk?
Spelltext: “Summon a random Daemon.”
… and that’s it, folks. (Its upgradable affixes aren’t much to talk about either.) It feels, and legitimately is, underwhelming compared to most Class Weapons. It’s also strictly inferior to “Gatekeeper”, which not only summons a random Daemon but also buffs ally Daemons and explodes Gems (as is typical for Tower Invasion event weapons).
Now, I have done the slightest forum research to know that Karakoth is one of the earliest/oldest Kingdoms in this game’s history at large, and this Weapon originated in a time when (1) the pool of Daemons (especially of base Legendary or Mythic) that could be summoned was quite narrow, but (2) it was mostly the only 100%-reliable way to summon a Daemon at all.
But (understatement of the week) times have changed since then … so, anyone want to talk ideas for how to buff this Weapon to be at least more useful in the modern era?
Here are some “starter” ideas, easy to think up off the top of my head:
Add a second effect if the summon is successful:
- Buff the summoned Troop (Barrier? Bless?)
- Enchant the summoned Troop (which could be quite potent)
- Create Gems of the summoned Troop’s color?
Alternatively, add a secondary effect if the summon fails (due to a full team):
- “Summon a random Daemon. If this fails, Transform myself into a random Daemon instead.”
After all, most summoner troops already have some second effect that is potentially useful outside the summon itself. Summoner and Orion’s Heral, for example, give Life to all allies. (we don’t talk about Essencia here.)
I also kind of like the last idea, where here is a weapon that will put a random Daemon onto your team at ANY cost, even by Transforming the Hero into one. Feels thematically appropriate for a Troop Type with a reputation of being inherently risky to call on.
