Cool.

I thought I’d be excited for Troop Changes.. but… not these.

The Guardian Dragon: if its a problem for new players, the troop should have been swapped out for an existing scatter damage troop instead of making The Guardian Dragon a dud troop for everyone…

The Voice of Orpheus could use a buff, but it’s just getting a boost ratio display adjustment which is not as exciting..

And Eleanor… I guess it doesn’t matter to me, but I worry if choosing a color is considered confusing…

Voice of Orpheus was the perfect counter to Elementalist and had some other cool uses as well. Nerfing his damage was unnecessary and came out of nowhere, like the tutorial troops. If anything, VoO needed a buff, so that he isn’t irrelevant due to Wand of Stars.

If they were updating tutorial troops, why wasn’t prisoner Luther looked at? Explode 2-4 gems for 11 :blue_circle::brown_circle: with garbage traits is horrible for an Epic troop and should have been classified as a Rare troop. Goblin Bomber is gotten in the tutorial section too and has about the same spell…with an extra turn.

The focus is new players, the game bleeds. New easy costumers. The tutorial being hard is wake up call to those who can’t pass it.

VoO isn’t being nerfed. They’re just fixing the damage displayed for his boost ratio.

It would include his own mana, which is used up when he casts, so doesn’t boost his spell. So it’ll now show the correct boost amount. His damage isn’t changing.

Troops who boost off blessed or submerged allies have the same issue. When they cast, they lose those effects, so can’t boost off their own bless or submerge, like VoO can’t boost off his own Mana.

Says Maelstorm in game, not Maelstrom.

Which is it supposed to be?

The one thing I forgot to notice about MD… it’s a Merfolk/Boss. Reads like flavor text, until I remembered Merfolks have a 50% mana start. That is definitely kinda something.

I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be “maelstrom”, which is an actual word unlike MaelSTORM. Waiting for the team to confirm

Insta-kill plus 12 mana potions and a guaranteed extra turn is good to begin with, plus the Invulnerable trait on top of that. Definitely has a good chance for looping through killing multiple enemies. That possibility of a quick start with Triton is just the cherry on top.

This thing would be amazing even without the extra turn :joy:. I switched out Triton for Megavore’s third trait instakills as there are so many 4+ matches. Wand (tidecaller)/Maelstrom Dagonath/leprechaun/megavore. Can’t remember banner but it’s almost immaterial. Nice and chill in exp 12 if you can spot the godslayers :joy:.

Welcome to this week’s version of the inflationary “power creep” vicious cycle.

The guaranteed extra turn plus the inability to shut said extra turn down by any means is going to be obnoxious to deal with when the new guy is on the opposite side. Cast the new guy, cast something to clean up all those potions and re-fill everybody, lather, rinse, and repeat.

The only thing that can slow the new guy down are other Invulnerable troops that are immune to Lethal Damage, but there are enough ways to manage that.

If it gets out of control, it is a boss

An interesting fact about the 12 mana potion gems that the “Malestorm” boss creates is that like other heroic gems, the mana potion gems can override each other. But when they are created, they have the following pattern of 3 “sets” of mana potion gems:

4 Blue :blue_circle: or 4 Green :green_circle:
4 Red :red_circle: or 4 Yellow :yellow_circle:
4 Purple :purple_circle: or 4 Brown :brown_circle:

For example, the new troop will never create 4 :blue_circle: and 4 :green_circle: mana potion gems, 12 mana potion gems of just one color, and so on…

Speaking of the Troop Changes I’ve noticed that The Worldbreaker mana cost finally dipped below 30. Did that happened this week or am I late?

IIRC The Worldbreaker buff, along with the other changes to Divinion Fields troops happened when its Kingdom Pass was introduced, which gave us the Cattauri troops.

Worldbreaker was overlooked in the Divinion Fields rework, but got buffed in the run up to the Divinion Fields Guild Wars event.
