Class Weapon Battles still count, even if your Hero is not present in the Team

What were you expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
Hero Class weapon count (250 battles) should only increase if your Hero is on the Team.
Hero Class weapon count will increase, even if your Hero is not present in your Team.

How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?
Always. Probably one or two updates ago, but I am not sure.

Steps to make it happen again:

  • Have the Hero Class weapon almost finished ( Example: 246/250 Battles)
  • Play Explore, Delves or Pet Rescue Event without a Hero.
  • Check the counter on your current Hero Class Weapon - associated/current Class.

That’s working as designed, your hero doesn’t have to be part of the team in order to unlock the class weapon, only the class has to be assigned. The hero is required to participate in order to gain champion xp.
