Chaos Portal Balancing

Right now the chaos portals give a random selection of faction troops and treasure hoard. I think it would be a significant improvement to the way factions work if once you have all of the faction troops fully ascended, levelled, traited, and had 4 copies; it stopped dispensing that troop from the chaos portals. You could add additional restrictions like all of the troops for that function need to be like that, or they all need to be elite levelled, or even those restrictions across the entire underworld. Or you could require that all faction treasure hoards are 150 or 200 first.

Players that have all faction troops and just want treasure hoard should be able to get more concentrated treasures. It’s not the same as chests because chests are primarily for troops (I’m not asking to change the proportions of treasure hoard, just that it is only treasure hoard if you don’t need faction troops). It’s not like anyone is super motivated to open chests for the secondary benefit (e.g., traitstones) once they’ve progressed far enough into the game.

If the developers cared about us, they would just make chaos shards (and other keys) work just like guild seals. Once we have 4 of a given troop, we stop getting them, so that we can get other resources or troops that we don’t have.

I’m not a game designer, and I know it’s more complicated than that, but if you do in fact have 4 of every troop, than you would just keep collecting troops like normal. It’s not that hard, but this QOL will never happen. ever.

I understand your frustration with the QOL; but I think it’s apples and oranges. My request is for people who have everything and want to level their factions to 1,000 but are still subject to receiving annoying things like coin purse and gold ring. Your request is to make it easier to get mythics, which they would never do. The duplicates from chest help with souls.

Not really. By removing the guild guardians from guild chests, the odds of pulling mythics didn’t increase. Removing the troops you already have wouldn’t increase the odds of getting better troops (I.E. mythics) if there’s another option in the drop pool. In chests that would be things like souls (which troops we already have would be turned into, anyway), gold and glory, as well as traitstones, etc.
Take guild chests, for example. If you remove everything you already have, the odds of getting a mythic would remain the same, but everything that wasn’t a mythic would get replaced by traitstones, meaning you’d just get tons of stones and the occasional mythic.

Of course, there’s a question of whether all players would want that, given that troops get turned into souls, which stay a useful resource long into the game (elite levels, for example), while other rewards may be less useful later. And, getting a troop and turning it into souls may be worth more than just getting a set amount of souls.

I agree with this. I have managed to get all my faction troops maxed, and now I’m just collecting chaos shards, waiting for another new faction troop to hit portals, because there’s no point spending them otherwise, even though I can still use treasure troops to level up my hoard levels. I just don’t want to waste chaos shards on getting troops I already have maxed. If I could spend them and get only treasure troops, I’d do that.

Hi Zuul. This is not true. The odds of getting mythics definitely increase after the guild guardians are removed from the pool. I wish I can attach the screenshots here but an error keep popping out.

Oh, sorry, I didn’t phrase it very well. Before removing guild guardians, you have a flat 50% chance to get one, so removing them doubles the chance to get anything else. So, the fixed odds in the other 50% don’t change, just that you removed that 50% chance of guardians.
Guardians worked weirdly, so it was a bad example. I assume that removing regular troops wouldn’t work the same, as they aren’t in a separate drop pool with a set percent chance. So, removing them wouldn’t mean increasing the odds of the best rewards.
