Balancing & Changes Discussion

Thread for discussing Balancing & Changes.

Starting things off with a question for the one and only @Jeto - I’m curious as to the reasoning for this change:

Not a massive deal or anything, but why change to longer wording with the same meaning?

Can you similarly fix Nereida, Penglong, Spellblade, Tuzi, Undine, Vanya Soulmourn, et al?

They all have spells boosted by effects that are necessarily reset upon spellcast, thus the boost ratio preview includes themselves in the estimate when the actual spell damage does not. e.g. Nereida boosts 4x per Submerged Ally, (and Sumberged is removed upon spellcast) so the estimate may say up to +16, but the actual boost is only up to +12.

I’ll grab that old thread and try to follow up, and if I get any news I’ll reply in that thread you have linked.

Continuing the discussion from Balancing & Changes:

@Jeto - I’m curious if there there is any sort of database of troops currently unavailable to F2P players (i.e. troops either currently in paid passes, or those recently in paid passes that have not yet made it to chests/Soulforge). I’m thinking of making a tracker, but am lazy and prefer not to update projects manually if I can avoid it. Even troops that were recently available in gem shops but are not released to their respective areas yet (i.e. recent Bounty captains not yet obtainable if you missed their Bounty event, or new Underworld Faction expansion troops which were available during the expansion event but are not yet in portals) would be awesome to know.

As someone who doesn’t pay for every pass available, or buy every new Bounty/Delve troop immediately, I often forget which cards are currently accessible and which are not. It’s a pain to have to sort through the forums/Discord to figure out which campaign Mythics have been released to chests, which Tarot cards are in the Vault, and so on.

Anyone have a list like this ongoing, or any ideas on how this could be automatically tracked?

It would have to be a backburner idea, cos no, it’s not something we currently just have or can just pull up easily.. kinda like the Soulforge situation

Thanks for the response! I’ll give it a whirl manually and see how it goes.

Okay, time for a history lesson.

There is a server API which returns the troops available in each type of chest. It used to be public, there even used to a community tool displaying this information. Then several of those configuration issues Gems of War is notorious for happened, culminating in one where a prominently advertised mythic troop didn’t get added to chests. This was apparently internally considered a serious legal issue, so all community reports were first entirely ignored, then claimed to be entirely incorrect. With the help of the server API the community was able to prove this wasn’t being played fair, so compensations had to be handed out. The public server API was set to private right afterwards, because it was “confusing the community”.

I’d ask for that server API to be made public again, which would probably take at most an hour. But, to misquote Sirrian, “you are not that kind of company”.

I have already.
Should say, I had asked for a new API to be able to share with players to make community tools.

I can always follow up.

This would be huge for community tools!
