Curious to hear everyone’s strategy for unlocking Astral Spire! Personally I plan to unlock all the magic nodes first, then work towards the Time Warp capstone (20% for opponent to miss extra turn).
Since I am on Switch, I will just have to be patient. (Even though it’s most likely that we will get the patch with Legends Reborn, and a lost week is not that big of a deal).
The Astral Spire board offers the most benefits, but it might be better just to gradually unlock all of the nodes before trying to max out a capstone effect.You could unlock a couple of nodes instead of increasing a capstone benefit by 1%, so there’s going to be a personal preference of what choices everyone makes.
It takes me back to the skill trees in Diablo 2 where I had to reset everything once I learned how to level up skills with an Amazon to make the most use out of lightning Fury and dealing with lightning immune enemies. But we don’t have the option to “reset” our Astral boards, so we have to be very cautious of the choices we make.
Brown. Extra gem creation to win faster. Debating on if I want the Surge since it’s kinda far away or go into Blue next. Blue board is kinda funny since the Gold nodes are so far away.
Going for brown and extra gem creation first. Then I’ll probably go for the block enemy extra turns node. I get more chances at extra turns and they get less.
I was also wondering with this interaction too (especially with Wand of Stars and Stellarix). If all current and future troops and weapons that spawn heroic gems get an additional +1 to their gem spawn, that makes that decision quite easy for me.
Strategy? None at all.
Since this new gimmick supposedly does not apply in guild wars, what you do doesn’t matter in the slightest. Everywhere else the bonuses are practically irrelevant - might look cool but, in effect, don’t seem to change anything of actual substance.
Yellow: 8 magic + Capstone Lv 1. Gold Node vs +armor for the last magic node, undecided. Capstone Dispel is for anti-Maelstrom Dagonoth Submerge.
Purple: 8 magic nodes + Capstone lv 1+ both gold nodes. Skip last all stat node for later
Brown: magic node next to Gem Creation
then…
5./6. (explore players) Red: Capstone + 2 Gold Nodes. save 2 All stats for later. Skip top of the magic board for way later. “Only 1700” to get all 3 fun effects.
or
5./6. (pvp players) Blue: 3 magic + Capstone + Cleanse “Only 1700, but no Blue Surge”
(discussion point: Green is an awful board with bad effects and bad layout. No idea what they’re thinking.)
Green Capstone + 2 magic for 1100.
From here, clean up by getting any leftover troop magic nodes. I’ll probably start with Brown Surge node + All Stat + Magic node, but anything except green is probably fine. Skip hero board for obvious reasons.
First Capstone to work on is Blue for most people, but Yellow is also very good if you’re a heavy pvper.
Blue is really strong, but if you don’t put yourself in a position where you need to be cleansed or have the enemy do extra turns on you, then it’s not doing anything.. You can grab blue sooner, but I really don’t need it yet?
