The last month or so I just keep fighting the same team with no variation at all. It’s either this or bombs. Is this some new trendy thing to do or have I not just encountered them before?

The latter. The team is quite common for me, has been for months. Not exclusively though.
Both the Skeleton Key team and Fire Bomb team are common ones found in PvP. It’s not unusual to encounter them over and over.
What is a problem is encountering the same exact player over and over.
I just recently fought the same person In guild wars today (for Nintendo Switch). I would have loved to fight the champion but because of the glitch, I had to fight the same person twice. The only good thing was that I redeemed myself after losing to him.
Which glitch?
