Adventure Board, a personal reckoning

I think something to consider in terms of Mithran’s analysis is that even if the average number of raw Gems is lower, the Devs may feel that due to the low quoted participation with Daily Tasks (20%), more players are getting more Gems, on average, with the Adventure Board.

Another way to frame it would be that, assuming AB has higher participation, the Devs may be giving away more Gems/week due to greater participation or the relative ease(?) to obtain them.

I.e. they are utilitarians :stuck_out_tongue:, which has its own implications.

AB Pros and Cons: (just my personal opinion as an end-end gamer)

Pros:
It’s faster

Cons:
Can’t swap out 1 task per day anymore (means less gems)
Same gem value = gems replaced by other stuff
No more wacky teams created to complete multiple tasks at once
No reason to do Arena ever again now
No reason to do Treasure Hunt ever again now
Must play every day now to get rewards (could farm snotstones on weekend pre-AB)
Less event keys
Less “friendly” defense teams helping others get snotstones

That’s a pro for me personally

I’ma still play Arena

These are all pros for me. I liked the act of trying to find a team to fulfil multiple tasks, and when you found one that could do 3+ if felt good, but then you have to play 15 games with a team of junk, which rapidly sucked the fun away.

Harvest Souls III : 900 souls

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Runes of Wind II : 6 minor traitstones, 4 major traitstones
Harvest Souls II : 540 souls
Dig for Gems III : 25 gems

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Seek Glory II : 105 glory
Mine for Jewel Shards : 825 shards
Runes of Magic III : 8 major traitstones, 2 runic traitstones

Kill 150 Blue Troops : 100 gems
Seek for Glory I : 70 glory
Search for Gold II : 6000 gold
Search for Keys II : 4 gold keys, 1 gem key

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Search for Keys I : 9 gold keys
Dig for Gems II : 15 gems
Harvest Souls II : 540 souls

Top tasks:

  • 6 for 20 gems
  • 1 for 100 gems

Bottom tasks:

  • 6 common tasks
  • 10 rare tasks
  • 4 ultra-rare tasks
  • 1 epic task
  • 0 legendary tasks
  • 0 mythic tasks

Summing up the things I care about gets me:

  • 310 gems
  • 1 high value keys, a mix of gem keys and event keys
  • 350 glory
  • 825 shards

The pile of glory once again makes up for the absolute absence of glory keys. Gems are nice, 60 more than I would have expected to receive from the old system. However, just a single key, so I’m missing out on roughly 20. Assuming an average of 10 gem keys, 10 event keys, that’s 250 gem value, meaning this week amounts to a loss of close to 200 gems.

TL;DR: Somewhat huge disappointment, it’s the second week though, I might just have gotten a continued very unlucky streak.

Third week:

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Dig for Gems I : 10 gems
Seek for Glory I : 70 glory
Seek Glory II : 105 glory

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Search for Keys I : 9 gold keys
Harvest Souls III : 8 major traitstones, 2 runic traitstones
Search for Keys V : 15 gold keys, 2 gem keys, 4 event keys

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Search for Gold I : 5000 gold
Seek for Glory I : 70 glory
Dig for Gems IV : 50 gems

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Search for Keys II : 4 gold keys, 1 gem key
Runes of Stone III : 8 major traitstones, 2 runic traitstones
Harvest Souls III : 900 souls

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Seek Glory I : 70 glory
Dig for Gems I : 10 gems
Search for Keys IV : 4 glory keys, 4 gem keys

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Search for Keys I : 9 gold keys
Dig for Gems IV : 50 gems
Map the Underworld II : 200 chaos shards

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Runes of Magic I : 7 minor traitstones
Runes of Fire II : 6 minor traitstones, 4 major traitstones
Search for Gold III : 10000 gold

Top tasks:

  • 7 for 20 gems
  • 0 for 100 gems

Bottom tasks:

  • 9 common tasks
  • 2 rare tasks
  • 4 ultra-rare tasks
  • 3 epic task
  • 2 legendary tasks
  • 0 mythic tasks

Summing up the things I care about gets me:

  • 260 gems
  • 11 high value keys, a mix of gems keys and event keys
  • 4 glory keys
  • 315 glory

Best week yet. Glory balances out, gems balance out, high value keys roughly cut in half. Shame about the chaos shards task, less active players may find them useful, if you delve regularly they are about as valuable as souls. This week amounts to a loss of close to 100 gems.

TL;DR: Slight disappointment.

Daily Adventures are absolute trash. The rewards for Daily Tasks used to be largely gems, sometimes glory keys, gold and very rarely treasure maps or gold keys. But MOST days I would see 20-40 gems from tasks, but sometimes many more (for instance, win 75 games or whatever was 30 gems alone I believe).

Now I routinely receive runestone and soul adventures. Well, I have 3000+ of every runestone and 2.3 million souls. I don’t need anymore of those things, so giving me an adventure for them is just annoying.

The avg gems has definitely gone down for the majority of people I know, and the amount of common and rare tasks to the rest is a very bad ratio

Simple solution: make 2 days guaranteed 100 gems for top adventure
Complicated solution: make rarities of equal chance from common to mythic, and cut out certain rewards based on players collection(don’t need runestones or souls, don’t get those as tasks)
3rd option- lower gem costs 25%+ for all events
Doesn’t affect me personally with the resources I have, but for the majority of players it’s been a nerf on resources that is hurting them

I think the best solution is to make tailored tasks based on player status. If someone has millions of souls, they probably don’t need anymore. If someone doesn’t even have a troop they can upgrade because they are ALL upgraded and they have thousands of runes, they definitely don’t need more.

If someone is running teams with 13,000+ score, don’t give them tasks that max out at 1500 team score…

Does anyone know how the adventure board compares to the prebuffed snotstone event? (less stuff/less time investment version)

That was a straight 50% increase in time and rewards across the board, from what I recall. (Except for the treasure map task, where so few players were doing it that they left the turn requirement the same.)

Fourth week:

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Dig for Gems I : 10 gems
Dig for Gems II : 15 gems
Search for Gold II : 6000 gold

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Harvest Souls II : 540 souls
Search for Gold IV : 20000 gold
Dig for Gems V : 100 gems

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Runes of Nature II : 6 minor traitstones, 4 major traitstones
Search for Keys II : 4 gold keys, 1 gem key
Runes of Magic III : 8 major traitstones, 2 runic traitstones

Kill 150 Purple Troops : 100 gems
Seach for Gold I : 5000 gold
Dig for Gems II : 15 gems
Mine for Jewel Shards : 825 shards

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Harvest Souls I : 360 souls
Rune of Wind I : 7 minor traitstones
Map the Underworld I : 100 chaos shards

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Search for Keys I : 9 gold keys
Search for Gold I : 5000 gold
Search for Keys III : 9 gold keys, 1 event key

Kill 100 Troops : 20 gems
Dig for Gems II : 15 gems
Map the Underworld I : 100 chaos shards
Search for Keys VI : 9 gem keys, 2 vip keys

Top tasks:

  • 6 for 20 gems
  • 1 for 100 gems

Bottom tasks:

  • 6 common tasks
  • 7 rare tasks
  • 3 ultra-rare tasks
  • 3 epic task
  • 1 legendary tasks
  • 1 mythic tasks

Summing up the things I care about gets me:

  • 375 gems
  • 11 high value keys, a mix of gem keys and event keys
  • 2 vip keys
  • 825 shards

This is actually good. Gems and high value keys are roughly on par with what I got prior to the Adventure Board. More raw gems and less keys really, which I prefer, it offers more flexibility. There’s also two vip keys, which will probably end up forever unused in some trophy spot. They are still worth 50 gems each, and a very nice replacement for zero glory. This week amounts to a win of roughly 100 gems.

TL;DR: Pleasantly surprised.

That’s a good week
Both of my last 2 weeks had no mythic tasks and no 100 gem tasks
About 200 gems total each week

Got my first mythic task today after 4 weeks (chaos shards unfortunately). Still no kill 150 troops task yet though.

  • 7 common tasks
  • 4 rare tasks
  • 6 ultra-rare tasks
  • 3 epic task

  • 0 mythic tasks

Summing up the things I care about gets me:

  • 395 gems
  • 6 high value keys, a mix of gem keys and event keys
  • 4 glory keys
  • 245 glory

Highest amount of gems yet, it’s almost like the Adventure Board is slowly figuring out what I want most. Keys once again pretty scarce, with the exception of gold keys. I really wonder why those even show up so much in Search for Keys III, I guess I’ll never know, the bug report is getting ignored. This week amounts to a loss of roughly 50 gems.

TL;DR: Okay, I guess.

Getting the 100 gem task three of five weeks is WAAAY above average. I’ve gotten it once, period. There’s way too much randomness, and ZERO ability to change it. And “gem value” is a lie of the first order until it’s actually usable. 1000 souls(roughly) = 1 gem key (or whatever)? Fine, then put that in the shop, otherwise it’s like telling someone a hologram of a cake is just as tasty as the real thing.

Since Adventure Boards came to be I’ve had the ‘Kill 150 color troops’ one time.
Last week I drew a whopping 10 gems from the three daily DA’s (1 common Dig for gems)

I was disappointed with these Adventures during the beta test, and after one month of it being on the live server; I’m even more disappointed.
I understand that it’s really hard to offer the end-game players things that they need/want, but giving us things that we haven’t needed in years is something that definitely needs looking into and adjusting.
At the end of the day these game modes really should offer its players an incentive to play, whether they’ve played for 1 day, or 4 years.

A few days ago I had a Mythic and legendary “Map the Underworld” which resulted in a combined 600 shards.
