A question to Jeto about explore's animation, and gaps possibly getting a resource boost

Jeto, With the reasons given for explores unskippable animations, I wanted to know if any corrections are being discussed amongst the dev team. We are losing quite a bit of resources from gaps, due to the slowed down pace. A boost to them would make explores downgrade, much more palatable. We are losing gold, trophies and the high lvl explore buffs you guys added, not too long ago. Its a bit depressing and moral eroding, sitting through dead space each run. Can they PLEASE do something about the mode? Thanks

Additionally, any love being sent Treasure Maps\Arena’s way? Im lvl 2080 and max vip. Any news would be great.

Gosh I wish we could do more with Treasure Maps, I used to use them a ton back when they new(er) but now they feel like a chore rate of getting resources.

I dont have anything to share beyond what I’ve already posted

When I first read that post, all I heard was, “We have made the game less enjoyable.” They used way too many syllables with a ridiculous explanation, and when we have our next Vault weekend on 10/23, people are going to lose their patience.

Can’t they do server maintenance, rewrite the code, or do something else? There was a good reason we were skipping animations. We do not like them. The vast majority of players actually hate them.

The poll below only represents a very small part of the community. If most people voted, I bet close to 90% would say that they want the Explore animations removed.

Simple way to check. Put a poll into the game itself, give everyone 10-50 gems for answering the question, and let them pick between “I want the animations removed” or “I’m happy for the animations to stay”.
You won’t do that, I bet, because you already know how the vote would go.

But other games do that kind of thing all the time. I’m playing another game at the moment that had to take the server down for maintenance while implementing an update. They warned us days in advance and also gave out in-game currency as an apology and I also got asked to do a survey with some questions about the new characters/troops in the game, in return for which I got some more in-game currency. And yeah, it’s a free to play game that relies on microtransactions, like this one. But it’s not full of long annoying animation spam that wastes my time.

Makes me wonder why I play this game at all…

A poll isn’t needed.
The feedback and sentiment has been passed onto the team, because I’ve been gathering it from everyone here, ongoing. Not just now, but before the Explore was updated.
Right now though, they are not changing. The information shared from Sirrian is from the day I posted it.
If anything around any and all animations do change, I’ll be sure to share it.

This being the case, any chance they’d speed it up more?

This shouldn’t even be a topic for discussion. They’ve made a major mistake, and they should simply work to fix it—either by removing the animations entirely or by making them as fast as possible. How they go about it, or whether they risk breaking something else in the process, is their problem, not ours.

As we all know, this is the kind of game where, in most cases, the goal is to complete tasks as quickly as possible. This helps keep the sense of repetition at bay—if everything were slow, the gameplay would become tedious and dull. Furthermore, given the sheer volume of tasks to complete, a slow-paced game would simply be unsustainable.

Adding animations that slow down the game is both ridiculous and nonsensical—especially since it’s already clear that no one wants this, and the community has explicitly and loudly asked them not to do it.

This “brilliant” decision has yielded nothing but negative results; the game has only gotten worse. This is particularly true for the GAP event, which was in need of improvement, not degradation. (Even before this, spending fifteen minutes grinding through identical battles as fast as possible was hardly an ideal experience—and it was already incredibly time-consuming.) As the primary source for gathering resources, this event has now reached a point where many players have simply stopped participating altogether.

It’s baffling why they would implement such senseless changes—changes that benefit no one—especially when there is an active community constantly providing feedback on what should and shouldn’t be done. It’s as if they don’t even understand their own game.

The changes to the game were made because the server can not handle the requests from the game client. The server still accepts faster games, only the game client limits the user. This is cheaper to develop because the server code is harder to change.

They have limited automated tests and every change has the chance to introduce more problems.

The team is very small and the game is in the milking phase - normal for smaller or no longer profitable games that do not grow.

All validation for the game is made purply on cost. Spending time and money on this game is no longer an option, because the return of investment is very low and the current player still play the game regardless of problems.

So, no they will not change the animations back unless money goes down and as I observe the current player base this is not the case.

Im on the verge of just giving up on the game. In theory, It’s a “simple” fix. Practically speaking though, you’re right for all the reasons you mentioned Fugan. If the player base continues to erode, this game will become even more of a wasteland. They should focus on fixing whats left of this game. Making us suffer from a stopgap fix, is not good for this game long term. Explore is one of the game’s main modes. Pvp (which needs a lot of work) is the other.

You cant introduce an update to fix explore, then nerf it AGAIN soon after. Work on the underlying problems that called for a band-aid fix. We shouldn’t have to suffer for this games lack of code integrity. I love my guild, and I love this game, but it may be time to call it quits soon.

At the very least Gems could restore the amount of gnome rewards to previous levels. It’s simply not worth playing Vault Event when the time lag is so slow and the rewards were ‘drawn and quartered’. <_<

As it i now I have more JRPG game time during Gnomes weekend as it is no longer worth my time to grind Paloozas. Currently sitting on well over 200 playable Paloozas because I could not be less inclined to use them.

The main reason I still play Gems is because of my guild friendships

This is the current mindset for the server problems

That poll was ridiculous. Actual high level players all hate the slower animations.

This is not fair, players who are very very casual and barely touch the game should not have their votes count.

And now its causing explore to soft-lock. Genius!

What if those casual players PAY more than high level players?
I agree the game should be designed more towards those that play the most, but do you expect a company to do that, if their money comes from casual gamers? I don’t know who spends the most, but I bet they get listened to more, even if these devs rarely seem to listen to any of us.

I’m quite active (2000+) and close to VIP 17. But since the animations got added, especially with all the soft locks, I play way less. And I’m not the only one. So which category do I fall in?

From looking at the most recent flash offers in the last few weeks, I’d have to say they moved away from casual gamers to more established players…

If they did things like fix the animation in explore, upgrade vault key rewards id be inclined to buy one of the offers out of goodwill. No campaign or pvp pass for me this season

Yeah, the recent surge in flash offers is ****ing me off. Every time I try to click on my tribute or go to a kingdom, one appears just at the last second, so I click on it instead. Has the opposite effect to making me want to buy anything they’re offering.
I’m not actually bothering to pay attention to what’s in them, because they’re just too annoying.

I got Vip 20 in 2022. Since then, Ive put hundreds, if not thousands of dollars into the game since then. I doubt some of the more casual spenders, spend more than us, who choose to support the game to a greater extent. If majority rules as you mentioned, there is nothing I can do. Ive done my part. All our voices should count. The shortcomings of this games failures are the problem. We can have our fluidity, and speed without being punished. Sigh, gems is such a headache

Yeah I’m done too now, this weekend so far has been an absolute Shower of :poop: ! No more cash spends on Gems from me on both my accounts.
