A New Mythic Approaches - Pharos-Ra

Like I said, I can confirm. I’ve got 2 in the same team and they currently can earn me 160 (x personal bonuses) per match.

man, i am asking about devs future plans. the current confirmation is irrelevant, its obvious that all traits of such kind stacks “for now”. for now that is. im not gonna spend my resources on a wild guess that it will not change unless devs confirm so. but thanks for trying to help

They aren’t going to give you a definite answer. Any reply will have a ‘subject to change’ disclaimer. If you want two, go for it and use it now while it definitely works.

Yes, @sirrian definitely stated somewhere that the devs would look into coding it so that legendary traits (some or all of them) didn’t stack - in particular the problem was arising when Kerberos was re-worked and four of them made for a team of infinite whack-a-warg…

I believe that @sirrian said this could be hard to do - not possible with how traits currently work - so whilst the intention was to look into it, I’d not hold your breath for it to be done any time soon…

I hope not. That would really diminish the usefulness of some teams, as a poor measure of balance for something not unbalanced to begin with. Using multiples of a Legendary/Mythic card costs resources in the long term and mana coverage and team bonus eligibility in the short term.

I remember hearing Tacet mention it when Wulfgarok came out, but no devs and nothing since. Still hoping it doesn’t come to fruition. Hard no from me.

Are you referring to this?

Actually what was said is they wish they would’ve made the entire game that way, but it’s too late now. So Sirrian said they’d like to make a new game mode where only 1 of a troop would be allowed. The change wouldn’t effect how the game is now.

So yeah it stacks, and will continue to stack.

Here’s what I mean. This was in response to someone asking if they can place the 1 troop/trait restriction now in the current game.

Unique traits on future units would be fine, since it gives the designers some liberty to make reeeeeally nice Traits. Making existing traits retroactively unique would be…less fine. ;p

thank you guys that gives me hope

Now that I’ve had some more time to play with him, I have to admit that he’s better than I originally felt. Part of the problem was that I didn’t realize his actual effective role - he’s a generalist, not a specialist.

  • He’s not as fast or safe for PVP as my regular Gard team, but he can still do a good job of it…and he brings in some nice Souls while he’s at it.
  • He’s not as fast as a Rowanne team for speed-churning through Explores for stones, but he can still do a good job of it…and he brings in some nice Souls while he’s at it.
  • I haven’t figured out exact numbers but I certainly feel like he doesn’t bring in as many Souls/hr as a dedicated Soul Farm team, but he can still do a good job of it…and he still brings in some nice Souls, even if it is somewhat less per hour.
  • …and he can do all of the above with the same team. A guildmate came up with Gorgotha, Giant Spider, TDS, Pharos (I haven’t settled on a banner but Abyssal is working decently), and I can go back and forth between PVP or Explore without changing anything and with consistent success, and getting Souls all the way.

His Bond trait still makes me grind my teeth (but it’s a first trait, so I’ll get over it), and the fixed orb convert still potentially bites you in the butt if you use it at the wrong time (but having to pay attention isn’t a bad thing, so I’ll get over it), and so far I’ve only found that one specific team he works in, but…I’ll get over it.

He should fit in most soul teams where you would normally use a Warlock. Just think of him as three Warlocks mashed together into one team slot with the functionality of Shadow Dragon (eg., put him anywhere with Valk, but only behind The Dragon Soul), then fill out the rest of the team as necessary.

precisely
my main use for him is the necromancer trait slot whereas the main soul generator is a different unit. basically take your perfect soul farming team and replace the least useful necromancer with pharus-rah , you shouldnt be disappointed then.

atm my explore team:

behemoth
the dragon soul
pharus-rah ***
aziris ***

+abysmal banner

(slightly slower if when i used 2x aziris but grants a lot more souls so its a big progress)
i wish i got a second one but still hesitating weather to spend the rest of resources and greatly lower my chances on getting mythic next week…

You may be disappointed when you are done farming souls if you went after another that much just so you can soul farm farm. If you collect tributes frequently enough, by the time you are done three starring (let alone seven starring) every single kingdom with half decent guild statues levels (say, level 50, roughly where my guild was at after the guild patch) you get way more souls per week than required to level every new troop, at which point they are useless, especially if we are returning to a single-troop per week format. You could hold out hope they add an outlet for souls in the future that makes them worth farming when you are “done”, but chances are any such outlet would be low return on investment. Chances are you were also pretty lucky getting just one Mythic in the first place - I’m out 200 VIP keys (9k gems), 253 gem keys and over 1000 glory keys this week with no Mythic. Overall, I’ve drawn 6 mythics out of 750 VIP chests, and one more for every single key I’ve earned since mythics went live combined - a number I didn’t record but based on past and present weekly earnings would be in the range of over 15k glory keys and a couple thousand gem keys.

all of what you say is totally true, even now i have 87k souls and 3*ed (or more) everything that gave any glory, so i know long term i wont be needing those souls
my desire for second pharus rah is totally unlogical but i just like to achieve a perfect explore team XD
silly me, right? :stuck_out_tongue:
maybe ill hold it in, those gems i got wont just fall from trees when i need em next month…
but its the fun that counts… doesnt it? ugh…

I have to disagree with some of the comments in this thread. Whilst I didn’t much like the look of him, Pharos-Ra is a great troop.

I also use him at the bottom of a team with Gorgotha, Giant Spider and The Dragon Soul above. I use kraken banner strangely enough, just to give me the option of starting off by filling either Gorgotha or Giant Spider. Frozen banner would also be a good choice.

Pharos is the best sniper troop that I’ve used. I would be gutted if they change his spell to stop the yellow>purple conversion.

One thing people may not realise is that casting him once when you have zero souls nets you 50 souls due to his +150% souls trait. So if he’s full and you have the opportunity to use him and get a second turn, you use him once for 19 damage and then a second time for 69 damage (maybe using giant spider in between to top up his mana). If you’ve cast TDS once already then the first hit is already 56 as TDS gives 37 souls! So after two casts you have 100 souls and Pharos is doing 119 damage per cast.

Using exploders means that the board is regularly reset to give a higher chance of a second turn from Pharos’s spell. Also, you can often use the spider to create the required board to get an extra turn.

NB: these numbers are with deathknight armour, max guild statues and max kingdom magic bonuses.

IMO he is well worth the cost of traiting and he does feel like a mythic powered troop.

Try Dark Troll instead of Gorgotha. Sure, he might die (and be replaced by spider swarms usually), but he brings three good things to the table: Random Death Touch kills, extra fast soul gain, and instant fill for DS and Pharos if the board has a lot of purple (especially if GS was just used).

Thanks, I’ve got him traited so I’ll give it a go!

So I did get lucky and find this mythic (for once)
I have all of the bad mythics that don’t really help much and none of the ones I actually want (this was my fourth one).

I got him within like 50-100 gem keys. Normally I’d spend 6,000+ gems and also all my glory keys (which is where all my other ones have been found surprisingly).

And I traited him. And replaced Warlock for him in my Dragon soul farming team. And I really like him!
I wish he was more pvp worthy. I can only do the easiest battle with this team.

He’s PVP viable in the right team. I have no problem taking down 9500+ ranked teams with the following team:

Abyssal Banner
Gorgotha/Dark Troll
The Dragon Soul
Famine
Pharos-Ra***

His third trait is critical though.

Congrats, good pull!

He fits well with Ragnagord also, for a faster start.

Ragnagord**
Dragon Soul***
Famine***
Pharos-Ra***

Abyssal Banner. One red 3 match mana sourge and Ragnagord is ready to go. Famine open to both yellow and green manas.
