A New Mythic Approaches – Okra’Nos the Sleeper

At least have in it’s spell that silence all enemy troops, in addition to true damage or something that u mentioned. There is just so much potential dude.

So you want us to get excited for a “mythic” that wastes 24 mana to do half the base scatter damage that a Midge Swarm deals for 11.

Please just fire your troop-design team already. They are supremely, hilariously, disastrously bad at their job.

TLDR: The damage is OK, the trait needs buffing.

The troop was overnerfed. No argument there. But as far as the spell, I think there’s a lot of overreaction to how low the scatter damage is.
First, the spell is “Deal [Magic + 10] scatter damage, boosted by Cursed and Terrified Enemies. Summon 1-3 Daemons. [16x]”, so let’s work out the ranges for that damage. Assuming he’s webbed, or otherwise has 0 magic, he’ll deal a minimum of 10 damage if no enemies have curse or terror on them. If all 4 enemies have both, he’ll deal 138 damage (16 boost x 4 enemies x 2 status effects, then + 10 base damage). So 10-138 damage.
Midge Swarm deals [magic+8] twice. So, 16-16 damage when webbed.
Once you take magic into account, midge looks better because it doubles the magic, but Okra’Nos’s max damage will be higher until you reach 128 magic. And Midge has no other effects to it’s spell, so high damage makes sense.
So, on paper, the mythic IS more powerful than other troops, because of the high boost, right? Well, no. Since it’s 3rd trait is super weak, it makes it very hard to inflict status effects on the enemy. If you build your team around that, you can curse and terror them all, but relying only on Okra’Nos, it’ll probably never happen. So, the max damage it CAN do, it almost never will, on it’s own. While other troops are less reliant on teamwork for their damage.
What I’m saying is that the damage range isn’t the issue, because if it could reliably inflict curse and terror on enemies, it would do decent damage. But it can’t. So, the third trait needs a buff, to make it easier to inflict status effects, and do the damage it should.

I mean, they nerfed the trait, but didn’t increase the spell’s damage or boost to compensate for that, so it massively lost power immediately. Boost the spell, or improve the 3rd trait.

Doing a search for scatter and summon, I’m only seeing 4 troops. Okra’Nos, Vash’Dagon, Sacrificial Priest (30% chance to summon) and sunbird. And the other three kill a troop in the process, so it’s hard to figure out how much scatter damage it should do, in combination with summoning up to 3 allies.

Looking at other mythics that deal damage and summon, we can try to gauge it.

  • Deathlock Dreilak - [(Magic x 1.5)+3] damage to all troops below target. Summons ONE troop.
  • Euryali - [Magic+2] damage to all, boosted by naga and undead allies. Max is +21 damage from the boost. Summons ONE troop.
  • Fenix - [Magic+5] damage to all OR summon ONE-THREE troops (It can’t do both)
  • Leucitrax - [Magic+2] to all. Summon ONE troop.
  • Morthani’s Darkness - Steal [Magic+2] life from all. Summon ONE troop.
  • Mother Of Darkness - [Magic+4] to 2 enemies. Summon ZERO or TWO troops (only summons if neither enemy dies).
  • Queen Of Sin - [Magic+8] damage to 2 troops. Summon ONE troop.
  • Ratchet Cogbolt - [Magic+4] damage to 3 enemies, boosted by mech allies. Max is +28 damage from the boost. Summons TWO troops.
  • Shade Of Zorn - [Magic+5] damage to one enemy, boosted by red allies and skulls. Max is +16 for allies and +4 for every skull. Summons ZERO or TWO troops (only summons if enemy dies).
  • Succubus Queen - Charm target and steal [(magic x 2)+1] life from them. Summons ONE to THREE troops.
  • The Archduke - [(Magic x 1.5)+7] damage to one enemy. (Has a chance to instant kill.) Summons ZERO or ONE troop (only summons if enemy dies).
  • Tian Yi - [Magic+15] heavy splash damage, possibly doubled (if your attack is higher). Summon ONE to THREE troops.
  • Xathenos - Steal [magic+12] life from target enemy. Summon ZERO or ONE to THREE troops (only summons if target dies).

Okra’Nos would be

  • Okra’Nos - [Magic+10] scatter damage, boosted by cursed and terrified enemies. Max is +128 damage from the boost if all enemies are alive. Sumons ONE to THREE troops.

EDIT:
Let’s assume 50 magic each, against 4 troops, and ideal conditions for dealing max damage.
Damage values would be as follows:

  • Deathlock Dreilak = 78 to 3 enemies. Total= 234

  • Euryali = 73 to 4 enemies. Total = 292

  • Fenix = 55 to 4 enemies. Total = 220

  • Leucitrax = 52 to 4 enemies. Total = 208

  • Morthani’s Darkness = 52 to 4 enemies. Total = 208

  • Mother Of Darkness = 54 to 2 enemies. Total = 108

  • Queen Of Sin = 58 to 2 enemies. Total = 116

  • Ratchet Cogbolt = 82 to 3 enemies. Total = 246

  • Shade Of Zorn = 191 (assuming 30 skulls) to 1 enemy = 191

  • Succubus Queen = Charm damage (assume 50 attack, 100 damage done) + 101 damage to 1 enemy. Total = 201

  • The Archduke = 82 to 1 enemy. Total = 82

  • Tian Yi = 65 to 1 enemy + 75% to 2 others. Total = 162.5

  • Xathenos = 62 to 1 enemy. Total = 62

  • Okra’Nos = 188 between 4 enemies. Total = 188.

Overall, it’s not the best, but definitely not the worst total. I’d still want to buff Okra’Nos, but it’s spell wouldn’t be my main focus.

EDIT: I didn’t factor in the relative mana costs and other factors. If anyone can be bothered to do that, feel free. Maybe the “per mana” damage values would be wildly different, but I doubt it’s a huge factor, so I didn’t include that in my calculations.
